Anybody ever used MIDI over Fiber Optics before? Also any wireless Midi users out there?

This is cool www.midiextender.com. Wondering what a good application for Midi over fiber is.

To answer my own question I would have to say when very long distances are needed such as an arena, theater or amusement park setting.

I also like this idea (http://appsys.ch/en/products/34-digitalaudio/55-adx32badx64b) (Midi is only "on top", but it's really cheap)

Thanks for sharing that is cool! You can run 32 channels of audio through one Cat5 cable.. Nice!
It can also be modified for DMX just curious.. what exactly is DMX? Isn't that used a lot in lighting systems. Is it similar to Midi show control or is it something completely different? thanks!

Struggling to get my head around those prices being cheap. You could do all of this with more conventional cabling for a fraction of the price, especilly buying a used multicore, which folks practically give away once they no longer need them..

Although I do rather like the optical multicore idea.
I already use ADAT lightpipe a lot in my studio.

I suppose compared to some other commercial products they are cheaper?

Fiber is definately not a cheap route to go but has advantages for serious users!

The Icron WiRanger is the best product ever. I get at least 300'. Costs about $200. This is a wireless USB2 hub. Highly recommended.

Does anyone know if there is much of a demand in live productions (concerts, theater) to be able to send AES Digital audio more than 300 ft?

The same company that does the midiextender stuff also has a new product coming out that sends AES/EBU digital audio over fiber for distances of a few miles or more.. if anyone is interested .
