sound quality

seems to be very strange, but...

my vst instruments sound very thin and cheap when i use them in Reaper. especially NI Battery.

at the same time it is all okay when i play them in Sonar.

the same goes for effects.

just can't figure out what's going on...i mean, i really like Reaper and want to switch...but this issue with sounds...

any advice?

correct sample rate, bit depth and sound device selected?
i can assure you that using a vst with 11000hz/8bit played on your onboard or soundblaster won't sound the same than on your "professional board" with 44100hz/32bit...
