You can capture the active window by pressing ctrl+alt+k (depending on your shup hotkey settings), or you can press ctrl+alt+d (again, check your settings) to capture the entire desktop; after using either of these, you can open the image in the image editor and crop it however you wish.

ah, pity

look at this program

http://www.pixelmetrics.com/CapWizLite/

you can select a rectangular portion of your screen to capture

look how much work it saves you:

save the image of the screen, open in with your image editor, edit it, save it, duh...

however I admire shup's ability to auto upload the image and give you the link

I wish I could combine those two features (frame selection and autoupload)

is there any tool that does it?

Heh, it looks like with that program you have to select an area first and then capture. With shup, you capture the entire window (with the hotkeys), then select the area and hit enter to crop. Doesn't seem like shup's extra work to me.

There is no saving the file and opening in image editor involved unless you're working on an already existing image file. The image editor is automatically invoked after the screenshot capture (unless you have your shup settings changed from default).

Oh, and shup doesn't cost $19.95!

you are saying I can capture any portion of the screen using shup?

only only windows or the whole screen?

because I need to do the first...

You can do either. If you want to capture something that's not part of a window, do this:

1. Go to preferences (right click on the systray shup icon -> preferences)

2. Hotkeys and Files -> Select an Action -> Capture Desktop

3. Make sure the following boxes are checked: Enabled?, Show Preview Window?, Upload enabled?

4. Pick a hotkey combination if you're not happy with the default one (Ctrl+Alt+D). Close the preferences window.

You only have to do the above steps once to get your settings right.

Now, you can simply hit Ctrl+Alt+D and you'll get a screenshot of your entire desktop in the image editor. Press "R" and use your mouse to select the area that you want. Hit enter to crop the selected area. Enter again to upload (Optionally, press F and change filename before uploading). You can undo your crops (and brush strokes) by using Ctrl+Z.

Hope this helps.
