I cant imagine this for a small application...

the shell extension requires it in some cases.

darn, youre right, its Windows(R)!

but I thought many other applications that use shell extension dont require this

and shup's extension works perfectly even without restart

on first install, ever, probably yes. :)

applications like tortoisesvn usually require a reboot, or uninstall first.
