I kept getting LICEcap crashes when the file save dialog would open. It turns out to be related to Nahmic which is a sound utility for laptops. A bit weird since LICEcap has nothing to do with audio, but Nahmic has been known to cause problems with random programs.
Running LICEcap in Win8 compatability mode stopped the crashes.
Here's a sample log in case it's useful.
