Lag

I am new to NINJAM, and was using it when I noticed that I get about 1 second lag between me playing something and it sounding. This throws me off, so I was wondering if there was anyway to stop it? I'm connecting directly with my guitar to the Line In socket, and I'm using the in-program effects in NINJAM.

Go to the audio configuration, and select Kernel Streaming or (preferably, if you have an ASIO driver) ASIO.

Tried that, but got this error why I try to connect to a server:

NINJAM ERROR
Error opening audio device, try reconfiguring!

Does it mean that I just have the wrong soundcard or what?
