View Full Version : Progress Bar Inaccuracy in Shup

I'm currently attempting to upload a (258MB) zip full of wav files exported from a Reaper project to Stashbox for a friend. Shup's status bar is filling in fully within a few seconds, not giving any indication of the actual progress of the upload (or whether it's really uploading at all).

What to do?

258mb is way too big, Stashbox won't allow you to upload it. The maximum filesize for Stashbox is 64mb, although 20mb seems to usually be more feasible.

That's a shame. I'll try making a muti-part rar...

Out of curiosity, why the file size limit when there's no storage limit? I mean, what would be the difference between uploading ten 10mb files, and a single 100mb file?

To discourage abuse, we don't have unlimited storage.

I suppose there's no such thing as "unlimited storage", but do you have a stated limit?

i think for larger files you should setup a server on your pc, or get webspace --

or better yet, use a service like yousendit.com

stashbox is a wonderful service, dont abuse it :D

hopefully they have measures in place that will prevent abuse, and automatically delete unused files after a certain period of time.

Not planing on it. This is indeed an amazing service.

I hope it manages to stay afloat financially as it grows. I'll do my part and use it frugally.

I managed to compress those wav files down to under 200 MB in a multi-part rar (impressive, considering they were 540 MB to begin with), and as soon as my friend grabs them, I'll be deleting them from the server.

I was going to use a yousendit/mailbigfile type service, but most of them delete the data after a few days, and I'm not sure my friend would get to it in time.

I thought about running an FTP server with a FreeDNS URL on my laptop, but then I'd have to leave it on all the time.

Stashbox + Shup certainly fills a gap no other free service does, and it's much appreciated!

Keep up the great work guys!
