Hello

I have some bad refresh on a new audio track.

1. open reaper
2. insert track
3. resize track vertically to half the height of the window for instance
4. open media explorer
5. click on "<project directory>"
6. the track display is not correctly redrawed (see screenshot)

my machine : Windows 2000, Direct X 9, AMD Athlon XP 1800+

Best regards

Geoffroy

Hello

I upgraded my video card drivers just in case.
But the bug is still here.

Am I alone ?

Best wishes

Dunno, but if I drag something from the media explorer into the area below the last track (to add a track there with that item in it) I get an empty item showing in no-man's-land below the last track - maybe that is related to what you've seen.

don't have to be sorry about that :)

If I can do anything to help on fixing that bug, let me know.

I can't repro your bug in 1.04. Try deleting the REAPER.ini file to force REAPER to reset your settings.

Thanks.

I tried deleting the whole Reaper application directory and the one on documents&settings\application data and no change.
This machine is running Windows 2000.

I tried on a XP machine and like you I can't reproduce the bug.

I can say that I see a lot of flickering when click on <project directory>, it seems the whole screen is refreshed, and only the left part of the screen (this with the tracks) is not refreshed properly.

Best regards

I don't know how I can help to solve this issue.
I know I just have to close and open the window to get the tracks view as normal but that's a bit annoying.
I didn't encounter this bug in any other window of Reaper nor in any other application.

what's the cpu-usage? i saw such things on my machine when it was heavy loaded ...

4% only.
It happens only when clicking on any text on the media explorer. It then refreshes the whole screen (it flickers) but not the track view

what color-mode are you running? 16, 24 or 32 bit?

I tried different screen resolutions, and the color bit depth is 32 bits.

No problems here (win9x). But I have similar problems running REAPER under WINE.

just one up in case this bug could be fixed... it doesn't occur on my Windows XP work laptop

Hi!

One more try... : it still only happens when clicking on a shortcut or directory on the media explorer.
Look!

Tell me if I can help, I'd be glad if this problem is fixed!

A couple of things to try.

1. How much priority is allocated to graphics compared to processing in REAPER?

Try allocating more to graphics using: Options>Preferences>Appearance>UI Updates (at the bottom) - Change from default to 'Fast Always'

2. Try turning down hardware acceleration a notch or two in your graphics setup:

Right click the Windows desktop and choose Properties from the popup menu
Click the Settings tab and then click Advanced
In the next dialog box, click the Troubleshoot tab
Under Hardware acceleration, move the slider one or two notches to the left.

This can sometimes help improve graphics drawing/refreshing.

Fingers crossed!

I tried both but it doesn't change anything.
I encounter this problem only in that program and in the media explorer.
Justin, any clue ?

I've just tested in V1.885.
The bug is still here but different.
1) if I click on a file on the media explorer, the track information are disappearing, I can't see the vu meter like before
2) but if I drag'n'drop a file to the project, all the tracks are redrawn

Hope it helps

I have always had this behavior with REAPER also.

resizing the tcp usually fixes the problem for me.

I am also using Windows 2000.

This does this on two machines, both Windows 2000.

THANKS! Finally someone with the same bug :))
What is the TCP ??

Sorry, thought everyone knew the lingo around here. :P

TCP = track control panel. If I simply resize the length of the TCP it all snaps back into place.

I've always thought it was simply an issue of using an outdated computer and operating system. No tweaks have made this go away for me either. One machine is an AMD 2800+ the other a 1800+.

Could be older memory standards and how win2K handles memory or some other random nonsense.

same here!

mmm, this is strange. I thought it was a memory card issue at first but this is the first time I see this bug in any application.

Maybe a redraw on the tcp when there's a click on the media explorer would fix it ?
