Just installed Shup under Wine on Ubuntu and it worked ok. Hope this helps :)

i just installed shup in xubuntu, and the image editor is acting up here. this is what happens when i move the cursor across the image.

If you move the editor window do all those circles disappear? This seems like a problem with Shup not redrawing the window in a way that wine and xubuntu's window manager appreciate.

Not saying it's easy...
My experience with WINE is this:
If you use ONLY stock controls with VERY minimal functionality, then there is a 50 percent chance it will work and behave in a 1-1 fashion.
