It would be great to have an option which would open projects (doubleclicked in explorer) in the current active instance of reaper instead of opening a new one ...
Or an option to allow only one instance opened would also do it for me ...

justin, would this be possible (as option in the preferences)? maybe this could save me from bluescreens like this: http://www.cockos.com/forum/showthread.php?p=33207 !?

Winamp has this option and I always have it on,it's strange REAPER still doesn't have such a (basic) option.

When I try to do this Reaper doesn't open a new instance. It just closes the one open and opens the new one. I did this the way you described. Double-clicked project from media explorer. Is there maybe an option we aren't aware of that I have enable by accident?

Why not use the media explorer? I find it the most useful thing on the screen that isn't on the timeline.

yeah, good idea ...
but to be safe, i still would like to have a global systemwide option for this :)

OK I'll look at adding this ;) The way Winamp did it was pretty kludgy and took ages to refine... so maybe not for the next release but the one after..
