custom icons for repeaks files ?

As i am using Reaper, it creates a lot of files on my Hard Drive (rpp files, rpp.bak files, etc).

We already have a nice icon for reaper projects files, and i would have liked to be able to select a custom icon for all those reaper-related files (basically, i edited the reaper project icon and made it 50% brighter, in order to know it is still reaper-related, but NOT a reaper project...).
Would anybody know how to do ?

This is all controlled by your operating system (which in this case is windows)

To change the filetype icons (which will be globally applied), to make .reapeaks files have a certain icon you do the following:

Open "My Computer" (or just have any file explorer window open)
Click Tools -> Folder Options (from top toolbar)
Choose File Types (from the tabs)
Click New
Type extension in the field next to "File extension" - in this case "reapeaks" (without the quotes)
Click Ok.

If you for example had chosen to write "bak" instead of reapeaks it is likely to be already associated in windows, since many programs uses this as an extension for their backup files. Choose NOT to override the current associations, and click cancel, and browse to the exisiting file type you wish to configure.

Click Advanced
Click Change Icon
Browse to the icon you would like associated with the file


Hit ok and ok, and you should see it working..


For further customization (such as folder icons in the reaper folder and others) you can right click anywhere in the white space and hit "Customize". From there on you can specify new folder icons and a background image for the folder.

You might be able to configure the .bak icons only to have an alternative icon for files contained in a certain folder (or subfolder to the folder) by hacking the invisible file desktop.ini in the folder. I'm not sure if its possible though.
