Since I am not a "user" of reaper yet (waiting for hardware), my requests involves graphical things.

I and probably more of the icon makers would be very happy to be able to use bigger icons for some parts of reaper. For example the transport bar buttons, wich already seems to have a border suggesting they are 24x24 or maybe even 32x32, but even if I make an image that size it will be scaled down to 16x16 when applied.

My suggestion is that each icon will have both a 16x16 and a 32x32 version, then it would be user selectable wich to use in different areas. Places where 32x32 would work well is the transport bar and the topmost toggle and project buttons.

As usual, a mock up of what it could look like (including my previous requests), observe that I have only blown up my icons to twice the size, 32x32 icons can be made to look alot better than 16x16 ones take my word for it.

I'd go with that. Particularly the little clutch top left. For old timets like me, there a bit small even on abig TFT.

The first mockup is not so nice looking, check out this instead. This could be done with 24x24 icons on the transport (they are positioned next to eachother.

yeah, this would look nice (cubase-like)! good suggestion to put (bigger) icons next to each other (which gives more possibilities for a nice gui)!

When you work whith a screen resolution of 1600x1200 it's realy painfull (for my old eyes) to work whith the 16x16 icons.

I vote thus for the 24x24 icons ;)

I'm not *exactly* for larger icons - I don't want screen real estate encroached... BUT...

I *am* for what I'd call "full-bleed" icons, a graphic-paste-up term meaning effectively "all the way to the edge"..

In otherwords, no dead-space borders. You either hit the button you want, or something else. I don't see a need for a "neutral zone" between buttons, I think that's a holdover from an antiquated notion of people somehow having difficulty using a mouse...

On the TCP, it would make some things more legible and easier to hit. If I'm aiming for the center of an icon, if I catch the furthest demarcation I'll still have use of that icon; if I go over the line and hit something else, it's my own fault. I don't think I've ever (for example) clicked on a dead-space between an icon on the TCP, for example... unless I was deliberately trying to gain focus for a track (which there should be a dedicated area on the TCP for that, IMO, assuming a "no DMZ icon scheme"..

Anyhow - fat icons, no DMZ around them....

If anyone of you remembers,I requested this long ago (in the KVR REAPER thread).I'd love to see support for larger icons in the transport bar for two reasons: 16x16 icons indeed look tiny at anything higher than 1600x1200 (like that 3.1 Megapixel res I'm using :) ) and I can't complete my upcoming 'retro' theme without large (24x24 or 32x32) icon support. It just looks weird having tiny 16x16 icons with huge spacing between them ;)
