Hi, I saw Art Evans post a recommendation for this analysis VST, and it seems like a good idea to see what your music looks like so you can work with it better. But I loaded it up, and I cant figure out what I'm even looking at. So i'm asking if someone could please explain to me what Inspector is good for, and how to read the information so I can understand what to do with it.

Well, I'm going to have to bite I guess!
But first... have you read the user's guide at http://www.rogernicholsdigital.com/documents/InspectorUsersGuide.pdf ?

yea, that helped alot, sorry for not thinking of that first. but it just basically gave me an explanation of what everything supposedly does. I need more of a "how to" guide.
i'm still not getting any readings. i have inspector plugged into to a guitar track and i can see the bars dancing around the signal level going up and down, and the level is in fact going over my caution and warning settings.....but no numbers are showing up in the boxes, no blue or red bars in the left or right channel box. i dont know what i'm doing wrong.

Here it just kinda works - sounds like you're doing the right kind of thing but why you don't get the right result is a puzzle.
Ah - Have you pressed the little red "on" button to the left of the item setting boxes to enable them?
Hey thats a pretty expensive toy - 300 dollars and a dongle on top!!
If thats justified then Reaper should cost a million!
Cheers

It's still free isn't it?? Always used to be, though I believe there was a bit of an upset when the company changed hands.
Oh sorry - I missed the free version.....which isn't available at the moment.
Still who'd want the XL?

haha, ok, i applied inspector to a bass track i recorded. Now i'm getting some readings..... Is it normal to have 1312 clip incidents? HAHA
i noticed there are default settings for inspector; loose, moderate, strict, etc....i see that on a loose setting I get more clips then on a strict setting, to me, that doesnt make sense, wouldnt it be the opposite? i'm a little confused still on what i'm looking at here..

http://www.kaosaudio.com/roger-nichols-digital-inspector-free/ seems to be a download site.
Dunno about the readings you are getting, Scottieboy - I think I'd need to be looking over your shoulder.
