A couple of versions ago the track colors now only color the text window... Can I change that back, so I see the whole thing colored? That would be especially useful in the mixer view. I would even like to see the whole background of the track in that color...
Expecially on a zoomed out view with alot of tracks, that would make orientation alot quicker.

Go to Preferences -> Appearance and theres an option called "Tint background", and something next to it with "track labels"

Whoo hoo. Didn't discover that one. Even though I don't use track colors, I might start using them since we can have only the wave forms have custom colors.
How great it is to have options on the options :)

I can't believe I didn't find that. - thanks.
It still would be cool if you could have the whole track background (or waveforms?) colored for better overview.

That's exactly what happens on my systerm, roman.

I think that is the Stelzbock theme.

The track coloring thing is something you have to do in preferences or by manually selecting a color by right-clicking the desired track in the TCP. (NOT IN THE ITEMS DISPLAY AREA!) Took me forever to find that...

Actually, it's Shark Dressed Man with Stelz' buttons.
i love what he did with the track icons, not so crazy about the toolbar & transport buttons, tho'.

I didn't see that, because I only had the folder-tracks colored. I'll just color the folder and all the track. That'll work.

Hi Teej,
Please post your theme above. I tried your Shark Dressed Man theme but it is different than the screenshot in this thread. This theme is very cool.

hi Kurt, and welcome to Reaper.
Reaper themes are made up of:
- colors
- buttons
They're designed to mix-n-match.
The screenshot you're looking at is Shark Dressed Man colors with Stelz' buttons. Download Shark, then customize it to use Stelz's buttons in Prefs > Color Theme. Change the UI Images dropdown to read Stelzboch_stealth_ui. Stelz's theme is included in a standard Reaper install.

OK I got it. How did you get the color of the track label background the same as the wave form color. I've been looking through the manual and here with no luck.
Sorry for the newbe questions.

no prob, Kurt. we were all new once.
Right-click a track heading (in the Track Control Panel; find a blank space, like near the track number), and select one of the 'Set Track Colors... options.

Hi Teej,
I tried what you suggested but the track selection color changes as well as the track label background when I use the "Set Track Colors..." options. I know this is a small thing but I'm still curious how you did it. I really like the way your screenshot looks.
Maybe some different preference setting?
Thanks again,
Kurt

Ahhhhh... yeah, there's an option in Prefs to set that. See pic below.

Silly me, that was it. I had that checked and kept looking right past it.
Thanks again,

I can't wait till we get the option to choose whether the waveform or background of the clip gets the custom colors.
I can't believe we don't have this yet.
