View Full Version : "Reaper_host32.exe has stopped working"
and under that it says,'check online for a solution later and close program'and under that another option says 'close the program'. Problem event name APPCRASH---fault module-StackHash_2264. Anyone know what this means? Sorry to double post, but I wanted this one to get noticed.

Sorry for the trouble! That sounds like a "firewalled" plug-in or a 32-bit plug-in running in REAPER 64 crashed. This sort of stackhash error is quite common and could be related to DEP, maybe the plug-in is not fully compatible with Win7x64 or something along these lines.
Maybe "32-bit plug-in" already gives you an idea which one could be the problem?
Thanks for the reply Stein......., oh, I mean Ollie. Jamstix is the problem plug, and I had a feeling it might be some kinda 32 bit 64 bit thing. Do you think that J bridge might be any better at making Jamstix 32 compatible? I started a piece in Reaper, and would like to finish it there, but I have 32 bit Sonar 8.53 installed and Jamstix seems to be behaving in it, so I might have to take the piece to Sonar. Thanks again for the help, always appreciated! Milt.

Alas http://www.rayzoon.com is a little inaccessible here at the moment (could only check the Google cache) but http://www.rayzoon.com/depfix.html advises to upgrade to v1.8 Jamstix for a DEP related issue on XP, if you've got a later version, maybe DEP compatibility broke again in Vista and higher.

I have Jamstix 3.something, and my OS is Windows 7 64 bit. I posted on the Jamstix forum regarding the problem, so maybe Ralph or someone else can reply with some advice. Thanks again, Ollie.

Just converted a song from Jamstix2 to Jamstix3, and had the same crash after a few minutes.... REAPER 4.13 x86 on Win7 x64.
I hope Ralph@Rayzoon can sort this out quite soon, this is a real showstopper.

I have long been (several weeks) reporting an issue with JS 3.2.0 and Repear 4.11 onward. Started to believe it was only me. Today I decided to do a complete reinstall of JS - however, maybe I will hold off abit to see what happens here.
My fix as been to reinstall Reaper v4.10 x86 and JS runs solid.

Is it not possible to add an exception to disable DEP for reaper and/or reaper_host32.exe?

I'm running 4.13, Windows 7 64, Jamstix 3.2 and am having the same problem. I have Reaper 32bit installed and am currently finishing a project in it.
I haven't noticed a problem until recently.

I just wanted to let you know that I found a 'fix' for this issue.
When I load Jamstix 3.2, I open up my FX list, right click on the Jamstix 3 entry, and select 'Run in separate process'. It loads now without errors, and it always loads with this option enabled.
I can now load other 32bit VSTi's as well. One that I use a lot is Amplitube 2. So for the last few hours last night, and again this morning, it seems to be running well.
Hope this helps...

Well, maybe I spoke too soon.... Although Reaper and the plugins seem to be working just fine. EVERYTIME I close Reaper/64, this error pops up after Reaper closes:
Reaper_Host32.exe has stopped working. At least it's happening on closure of the program, never while I'm using it.
Event Viewer shows this information:
Faulting application name: reaper_host32.exe, version: 0.0.0.0, time stamp: 0x4ecb2ba3
Faulting module name: ntdll.dll, version: 6.1.7601.17514, time stamp: 0x4ce7ba58
Exception code: 0xc0000028
Fault offset: 0x00090821
Faulting process id: 0x8c0
Faulting application start time: 0x01ccb75b7ef76ca5
Faulting application path: C:\Program Files\REAPER (x64)\Plugins\reaper_host32.exe
Faulting module path: C:\Windows\SysWOW64\ntdll.dll
Report Id: 45cb2138-234f-11e1-a432-50e549325a05
It may indeed be a Jamstix 3, or Amplitube 2 Live issue. Not a Reaper problem at all. Doesn't happen at all when I run Reaper32 under Windows 7/64.
Where is the best place to post this error info? Hmmm...

For a while I was posting everywhere!! So folks are aware of the issues. I finally just stepped back to an older 32b version of Reaper and JS is solid.
But I keep loading the new versions to see if any change. Ralph in JS did acknowledge that he was "working on a fix" but don't know if the new beta versions of JS take care of the problem. I am afraid it will just take time to sort out.

Just wanted to let you guys know that we have identified the cause of the REAPER crashes with Jamstix under 64-bit and will release Update 3.3 on Monday to address this.
Current Jamstix owners can check this fix out now as Beta 8 on their download page.
