i'd like to ask you what you think about this:

www.ujlenyomat.hu/beat-by-bit/zoran_remake_020_wVOX.mp3

this song is a remake of Zoran's "A szerelemnek múlnia kell". (approx.: The love must pass / The love must go by)
i love this song very much, it gives me "the power to survive".. (the song has beautyful hungarian lyrics, imho.)

this demo was made in Vegas5 (actually, more than a hunderd of .veg sessions..), but i'd like to finish this song in Reaper.

i think Reaper is strong enough on the audio side to let me start dropping the "Vegas panels" (rendered "track-sniplets") into Reaper.

i wonder what you'd leave out from this, what's too much, what's too low, anything about the synth patches, the drums, the vocal - anything. it's a demo.

thanks for listening,

i'll post the Reaper version when it'll be finished (..)

thank you, magoostus!

but no idea abut the arrangement, the sounds, the mix, vocals?

or just live it as is? i don't like this mix enough, i think i can do something better from this. if Reaper helps.. :)

this is a portion of the original song performed by Zorán (HUN)

thats a big difference between the old version and the new version. I like the one that you posted first anyway but...

The vocals are quiet. they should be brought up. they need to stand out more.

also, i would widen the stereo image by 5-8%

thats it. i thought the rest was fine. the instruments are fantastic. the mix is very professional, arrangement was fine.

thank you Magoostus, these are eaxctly the instructions i need.

personally i don't like the guitar (distorted) sound, i'm planning to borrow a Guitar and a MESA and re-recording it. Amplitube and dimavery (70 USD guitar) just not working here, imho.

Sound is very, very good. Indeed, very professional.
BUT:
It has no highlights, it has no catching theme. It runs and runs and runs.
My 2 ct.

Odin, thank you for the comment!

i think it's all about tastes. this was (and still is) a BIG hit in the hungarian pop-market. i do this remake, 'coz i wanna "heal from love" (since 5 years), so i really feel this song. (i think)

as a melody, it's not the greatest one - i think the same, but

i'll try to translate and post the lyric here, maybe you'll catch the "bitter-blue" feeling if you understand it.

do you really like the overall sound? i find this far from professional, that's why i'd like to keep on working on this. (in Reaper. :) )

I can't judge the bass, since i only listened to on the laptop. But yes, the sound from 250Hz upwards ;) is balanced well. In the first one or two seconds it immediately reminded me about Alphaville.

here is the (approx.) translation of the lyric:

Zoran - Love must pass

To understand what a glass of water is worth
you need heat, you need desert
To see what a day of yours is worth
somethimes you should see
how life runs out

you guard the flame right if you
afraid of it'll flair away, burn away
and loose it's light and warm

It's good when we beleive that
world can be like we want it to be
Beleive that dawn is beautiful
becouse the eternal darkness lies low in every night

A feeling covers everything
We beleived it lasts forever
And the law breaks down by us

(Chorus)
But oh, love must pass
And if passes it must hurt
To feel how much it worth till it lasts, till it lives
The love must pass
Also if it raises up to the sky
And of course you think else, becouse it promises else

Wait, don't pull your hands
It mentions so much miracle
when you touch me
Don't hide your eyes when you cry
Why to hide that it is a little hard?

..
