where can i download fx like a crowd noise?

Sorry if this is a dumb question.....but does anyone know where I can find a bunch of recorded noises that i can download into reaper like sounds of running water, crowds, car noises etc ?

key commands not working when plugin window is in focus

hi all,

i have tried everything _i_ could imagine to set up reaper the way, that when a floating window is selected
(i.e. a plugin window), the key commands like start/stop are working nevertheless ... no success ...
i mean it really annoys me having to select the main window all the time for the transport functions to work ...

soo ... have you guys maybe got an idea how to solve this?

[3.141] Sudden Exit syndrome in MIDI Editor using the new hand scoll

This "bug report" is probably going to be absolutely impossible to solve but I still want to get it out there. Maybe someone else had a similar experience, what do I know.

Anyway so what I did was install 3.141, create a NEW project, absolutely no plugins loaded or anything it was just a fresh project. I imported 3 short wave files, about 1-2 seconds each on a track just to make sure I had sound coming out of my system. I then went ahead and created a MIDI clip on the same track just to test the middle mouse button hand scroll in the MIDI editor. As soon as I clicked the middle mouse button and started scrolling, it didn't take more than half a second for REAPER to vanish without a trace.

I tried to replicate the error by doing the same procedure but yeah, you guessed it... it worked flawlessly every single time after that so it's not replicatable, it's just damn random.

Atleast this narrows it down to REAPER itself. There were no plugins involved, only 1 track with 3 wave files and 1 MIDI clip on it.

Does anybody have the slightest clue about what could be the source for this error?

i have been expierementing with item processing ocassionally there might be a small piece here or there leftover that i want to erase instead of further adjusting the dynamic splits settings.. when i erase that small piece everything ahead of it moves back to take its place.

what option do i have to enable/disable to prevent this?

I am trying to set up my church with a audio recording system and I have chosen reaper however on a previous occasion when I used reaper in connjunction with the churches sound board and system I could not get a recording just static. I am also wondering if reaper will work with a digital audio converter (if yes any suggestions), because I am trying to give them the best recording they can possibly have.

piano roll.
would it not be nice if one could have a feature for triggering
drum sounds in the piano roll midi view ??
right clik over a keyboard key on left hand side,
select wav drum sample n away you go.
any takers for this idea ??
i often find myself wishing for this feature.

another neat idea for people building drum traks would be in the
piano roll , the user haveing set bpm , the user cliks a button to generate a midi pattern and the cels are filled in automatically.
different pattern each time. this would allow folks to set up nice midi pattern drum libs.
mebe also include a fills option or drum rolls etc etc.
could save new folks some buks buying commercial drum software.
the piano roll is looking darn nice imho.
with the addition of these features, it would be grrreat.

Help with recording level?

I have been expirementing the last several months. I want to give my process and show you what I do when i'm recording. I do hip hop vocals btw.

First thing I do is load my beat up, then drop track 1 down. track 1 being vocals. I leave the beat at 0db but then I just ultimately drop it about 3-4db so I can hear myself over the beat really good (even turned up on the maudio mobile pre) sounds bad so thats why i drop it, and i got good headphones so I know its not them.

Am i doing something wrong? Then when I record some parts will be fine but some will be really loud (not clipping) just loud. I guess thats bad performance on the mic. So with that being said, what can I do to fix some of these problems? I heard somebody saying peaking at -16 db or whatever...somebody wanna take a picture of a fader in reaper and circle or highlight the area where i should be recording at or whatever.

Would very much appreciate this!

haven't tried to use reaper yet but am interested and have done
a couple of minor tests. figured asking might be quicker than
searching the docs as i don't know the reaper terminology for
this yet.

does reaper allow tracks to be grouped together and collapsed or
hidden?

i normally do post for video/film and work with a 96 track template.
i use 24 tracks each of dialog, fx, music, and alternates. 96 tracks
gets cumbersome to navigate so i usually group the tracks in the
above four categories and hide or collapse the categories not being
worked on at the moment.

how to get rid of pops and sss's in a voice over project?

I am doing my first voice over project and would love to hear from anyone some quick and easy ways to get rid of the pops and the ssss's and get rid of the taking a breath sounds between words from the recording and how to keep the volume even throughout?. and can anyone suggest which fx should help mixing the voice to music that is already a finished sound? thankyou!

crash caused by aas ultra analog

this crash was caused by clicking on the user interface of the synth.

I've been having some weird issues with the synth.

First of all, I posted this problem here:

I thought it was a reaper bug, but it seems to be the synth.

Secondly, if I create a patch or tweak a preset and then close the synth window, when I go back to it the dials have all reset to the original preset. However, it is just the user interface that diplays the wrong info, the actual sound which is playing is still the modified patch. This is very confusing, because the patch you are looking at is not the patch which is playing.

very strange behaviour, added to the fact that it caused a crash when I loaded two into the same project, leaves me to believe that there may be some sort of compatibility problem.

I will get onto aas about it as well

in a two guitar metal band recording, with two mics per cab, would you typically pan each guitar left and right?... or mix guitar A left and guitar B right?

My barren pockets won't let me indulge in such vital activities as filling my room with 4x12 cabs, 5150 and Krank heads or racks full of guitars. :( :mad:
But there is always the DIY alternative. Plus, 1- It's been a long time since I did something stupid/incredibly uncomfortable. 2- Guitar straps that are indeed straps are boring. 3- Chains are cool looking.

So, after a visit to the hardware store and spending half an hour messing with some simple tools and an used belt...

Detail (sorry, crappy cellphone picture)

Endurable. Maybe it will bend my collar bone or damage my arm nerves, but is a price I'm willing to pay to live and play with style. :D

Easier workflow?

I downlaoded the demo to try it out, and I must say i'm very impressed with the overall presentation of this program, but just my little insight on the pros and cons of this program.

It seems as if it's userfriendly, to an extent, but some things require some work.

Pros:

Grouping tracks together with a simple click, putting them into a folder. (love this feature)

interface (nice and clean)

file size (also nice and small)

Cons:

Fader levels - I think these need a tad bit more work imo, I am switching from pro tools to reaper and still trying to figure out how this fader works, I mean I understand it, but why can't we have just 2 lines for a fader instead of 4? I dont understand what the 2 in the middle are for, and for some odd reason my levels look really good and they clip! I think some adjusting might need done for that.

Tools : I'd definelty like to see a more user friendly area here, such as highlighting a little piece of the track and just being able to press the delete key to delete it, or highlighting the beginning of a track and running a fade in.......

Those are the only things i can come up with at the moment. I'm also new to the forums, so hi guys! :)
