rewire not installed in Reaper x64
installint Reaper x64 without x86 does not support ReWire

Installed Reaper x64, and am running Reason.
Everything worked fine so I uninstalled reaper x86.
and... ReWire didn't work.
I reinstalled Reaped x64, ReWire plugin did not appear. my template with the rewire plugin reported an error.
I had to reinstall Reaper x86 to get ReWire support to work in Reaper x64 again.

basically:

reaper x86 installed | 0 | 1 | 1 |
reaper x64 installed | 1 | 0 | 1 |
rewire in x86 works | X | 1 | 1 |
rewire in x64 works | 0 | X | 1 |

Did you make sure the ReWire option in the installer was ticked?

Yes. it was one of the reasons to reinstall.

Re tested, still happens in 3.14:
I have both installed.
Uninstall x86
Reinstall x64, to be sure.
Launch x64. ReWire load bug (default project has a rewire plugin).
ReWire plugin not available in plugin browser.

Reinstall x86
all works fine anew.

Uninstalling Reaper will not clear .ini files etc. in the user folder and they may contain a wrong path somewhere. I'm not sure what happened there but it sounds like you managed to mix up the parallel install somehow (maybe also caused by leftover ini files in first place). Not sure if both Reaper versions sharing the same user folder is a problem here.

Maybe the fact that you rewire Reason (32bit) to Reaper64 contributes to this (Reaper is trying to load the 32bit Rewire.dll from the Reaper32 program folder or something)

I'd recommend uninstalling Reaper x86, then moving/deleting its user folder before installing Reaper64.

When Reaper with ReWire is installed, the Installer updates the Window Registry with the location of the ReWireDev dll.

Check this Registry location:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Propellerhead Software\ReWire\REAPER]
"Device Path"="C:\\Program Files\\REAPER\\REAPERReWireDev.dll"

So whatever is the last Reaper install will put "its" ReWireDev dll in the Registry. Perhaps installing without ReWire deletes the Registry entry?

(I haven't done a 64-bit install, so if this is nonsense, my apologies)

OK; did a total uninstall of both Reapers. Cleaned all registry items related to Reaper, & reaper files in the user directory.

lost my settings in the process.

I confirm this bug.

ReWire should work in x64 without REAPER x86 installed, if you install another recent ReWire enabled app to rewire with (such as Reason, etc).

We don't ship the ReWire DLL with REAPER x64, mostly due to some silly technical reasons, but I suppose we can look at changing this.

Also, note that the REAPERRewireDev.dll is for slave only, which x64 REAPER does not support.

Thing is I have Reason 4.1 installed. Uninstalling Reaper might have uninstalled Reason's ReWire files.

Ah well, I just wanted to raise this to make sure the devs were aware. I can live with it without any problems ^^

Have a nice week end.
