Zero Volume When Rendering
It would be nice if one could have reaper set the master track's volume to 0dB(or whatever) when rendering so that one can get a consistent mix.
I have to turn down the master track when mixing because it is much easier than reaching behind two speakers to turn the volume down. If I forget to turn the master track volume back up when rendering the mix is too quiet and I have to post-apply some gain... and be consistent with it.

Umm... the problem isn't the Reaper but your hardware setup. Every decent studio has separate atennuator in between the speakers and the audio outs, often provided by your audio interface. You shouldn't touch the master of the Reapers mixer but to attenuate the output of your audio interface/sound-card to do that.
And by attenuating the master fader you're creating digital attennuation to the resulting file that cannot be brought back without a loss in audio quality. Thus you should never do that. Master fader is there to help your mixing / masterin process, not to help you control your monitors.
anything like this: http://www.thomann.de/fi/sm_pro_audi...ck_b_stock.htm
or this: http://www.thomann.de/fi/fostex_pc_1_volume_control.htm
solves your problem.
