Bug: Import of Tempo Events Fails If Tempo Events Are In A Separate, Otherwise Empty MIDI Track
Import of MIDI tempo events fails
Dear Reaper Team,
there seems to be a bug in Reaper regarding the import of tempo maps from standard midi files. It is easy to reproduce:
- New project
- Insert -> Media File
- Choose MIDI file
- click on open - if necessary, hold Ctrl to force import of MIDI tempo track, which is suppressed if there is only one tempo event at the beginning of a MIDI file, which in itself was very confusing behaviour to me
If the MIDI file contains all tempo events in a separate track that is stored BEFORE the actual note events, then Reaper will ignore the tempo events in most cases. If the track with tempo events comes AFTER the actual note events, everything seems to work well.
I wrote a MIDI parser/writer and can easily send you MIDI files demonstrating the problem. Since I cannot attach anything here, please contact me if you need these.
