I just caught up with this thread - rather late I know but here is an invaluable resorce on CUE files and it contains the CDTEXT part too.
Samplitude exports a CUE file if you don't want to burn...

You are recording the analog output of your card - thats maybe what you want but with a shitty onboard soundcard its hardly satisfying...

There have been many requests for finishing the redbook stuff in Reaper but so far its pretty useless for production.
Hopefully Justin and co will get around to it sooon....

This is brilliant - got the TI chip and is my best recording machine.
Its only got a 1.6Ghz CPU but thats of no concern for recording.

If you want a small laptop for 'on the road' get a used one...

Sounds to me like you have no 'Hi Z' input but you can hear all the Highs from the strings when recording....
