post a pic of your reap audio preferences mate..
a pic is worth a thousand words.
so people can see your settings for input n output.
the realteks themselves have a user control panel..
make sure you have it set properly //nothing muted.
if you cant get it to work...
zzounds.com has a bunch of cheap interfaces/sound devices.
starting at 30 buks for the behringer uca 202 if i remember.
prolly have to test how well works witn your netbook.
