well, plugged a set of earbuds into mic input and it records and plays back using sound card of Vista- will try others! Must be something about the demo from 2.0 files?

Later- tested on XP and it works also, but not on Ubuntu get message must download lame encoder- can't save file- but still does not record or playback. Anyone familiar with Ubuntu, wine, and Reaper?
