Well you did say that good/bad for a song is relative to how many people like it and how long it is around. The same applies to the novelty type playing.
There is a point where it becomes "look what I can do" such as a guy juggling live chickens while riding a unicycle. It's completely valid but novelty exists in everything, music is no exception.
