Default MIDI Editor "Zoom to Content" Ignores Low Notes

Report Bug: http://forum.cockos.com/project.php?issueid=4893

Running the action "Zoom to Content" on a single row of notes in the sub C3 range won't show the notes.

Steps to reproduce:

1. create new MIDI item and open it in the editor
2. draw a single horizontal row of notes in the C0-C2 range.
3. run the action "zoom to content"
4. why aren't the notes visible?

if you draw notes on multiple rows, the action will begin to catch the low notes. so this bug only affects MIDI items with a single row of ~sub C3 notes. confirmations anyone? thanks.

Two conditions have to be met:
  • MIDI editor should be maximized on a display that has at least 1080px vertical height
  • All CC lanes have to be hidden and the remaining CC lane's height sould be set so it's completely invisible

Now, if you run the action to zoom to content, whole note area (all 127 notes) is zoomed instead of content.

Good catch. Confirmed.

"Zoom to content" action does not scroll vertically to correct position to show notes when single row of notes is below A1 or above A4.

Also the edge case notes (single row of notes at A1, A#1, B1, A4, G#4, or G4) are not shown in user friendly position. Reaper should scroll vertically to show those note rows closer to vertical center of piano roll view.

Related to this, I think verical zooming in "Zoom to content" action is too agressive for example when you have used only two note pitches close to each other.

Yep, confirmed.
It seems to try to make the range between the A notes two octaves away from middle C visible for whatever reason. (With default octave name display offset that's from A2 to A5)

I agree with Jnif's comment that it could zoom a bit less in case two note rows very close together are in use. It depends on the overall height of the note area itself too, obviously.

thanks for the confirmation guys. it's bugged me for a while since i often like to have separate tracks for each element of a MIDI drum kit (hence the single row of notes). hopefully it can get looked at in this seemingly MIDI editor oriented pre-release cycle...

Just confirmed this on MAC OS X 10.12.6 and REAPER 5.70 x64.

Was using one MIDI editor per project, docked.
