I have not got over Justins recent visit here and the push push stuff yet.
No way! he is allergic to Linux just got only two arms and stuff is the problem me thinks.
Just throw the Windows code into Google translate won't work huh?
Pst: yep, Kubuntu also have a dark theme.

Wow so many great swell updates lately. Thank you for your work!
She is getting prettier from update to update.
---
I played a bit with libswell theming.
Are these really needed?

Setting them seems not to change anything concerning faders and trackbarWindowProc() is not getting called at all.
If it is there for compatibility or other reasons please ignore.
---
I'm loving that menus are destroyed now when switching tasks/windows.
It would be awesome if menus would be destroyed in these cases too:
1. Clicking on the titlebar/window decoration. I was not able to find a solution as we're not getting any GDK events when clicking on the bar. I guess it's not so easy or even impossible because this area is handled by the window manager.
2. Clicking on the GUI area of an open Vst. Again, I'd loved to help, but I'm not able to get any click messages in xbridgeProc(). Probably not trival again...

MJUC 1.1.1 (recent update) is working great with the latest LinVST/Wine Staging 2.5 and Reaper!
This was voted the best compressor of the year 2016 at Gearslutz, now it's available on Linux using the best DAW of the century

Since Microsoft have decided to force more unwanted software onto my machine in the form of a "Creators" update I'm thinking of switching my main system over to GNU/Linux. Most of the software I use has a Linux native version, I've read in this thread that some of you have got Kontakt and ARIA to work on Linux, is the same possible with EW PLAY?

Anybody else got problems with corrupted project files? I'm using REAPER on Linux on two machines and when I copy projects between them sometimes the project is corrupted on one of the machines. Corrupted means the project loads but the media items are moved on the timeline and shortened too. The mixer view resets also to fully maximized strips and the volume fader are set to zero on some channels.
I also noticed that this happens after a crash when using timestretching or stretch markers on an item.
Is there a possibility to switch back to a previous state of the project? Or to remove some temp files of the project? Where can I find them when they exist? Thanks!

This is a topic regarding the Jeff G 'No Budget Orchestra'
a work in progress of sfz samples building an orchestral library.
I'm not a samples guy, but over the years, this project has grown,
and Jeff writes like he has a lot of experience and knowledge.
If EastWest still uses ilok, they are a no-go, unless
you can get discoDSP Bliss sampler to sample them
in the windows version, and then use them in the linux version.
For more limited use, you could sample an E-W 32 note range
manually, import them into audacity
for editing and wav export, then use linux Hydrogen to make them
into a kit, that can be played by midi keyboard, or make hydrogen
patterns to string together for song sequences
in Hydrogen itself. 1/64th note accuracy, velocity control,
3 effects and pan per instrument, really a very nice app.
Earlier in this thread, some tips for using Kontakt 5.6
in wine-staging with lin-vst are discussed, and it's likely a 2013/14/15
Kontakt 5 will work in a 'regular' wine 1.6 or 1.8,
if you replicate all the folders Kontakt installer seeks,
in your .wine folder, ahead of time. Takes about a half hour
with kaffeine...and a good sneakernet to refer to. Or maybe
windows installer logs list the paths? The older FM8, Massive,
Absynth, and Reaktor seem to run fine using wineasio.
Cheers

I'm doing the same. As soon as native Reaper is stable enough to get on with, I will have nothing holding me to anything Microsoft. I haven't had time to play with it lately, but I'm looking forward to when I can. And I'm stoked that that native Reaper and related projects are coming along.

At this point in time and if you need windows vsts, I'd advice against thinking that the linux version will be able to replace your windows version... IMO if so best to try get reaper running in wine where the plugins will work better.
But who knows what will be possible down the line! Personally I don't see any reason that it shouldn't be able to work very well. Will it be as good as reaper in windows, I guess time will tell.
On the other hand if you don't need more than the builtin rea/js + already available linux vst plugins, then I'd say go ahead and try the native version, as it's already approaching a well working beta status.
Alternatively start lobbying your plugin manufacturers for native linux VST plugins in anticipation of a linux reaper release.

I haven't seen anything like this, but I'm mostly just testing and do my real work in wine. Maybe try to do a file compare of the prj files?
Note that elastique isn't working well in linux yet, many times it causes a seg fault here, maybe related.
You could try to open a backup prj to return to a previous state, or maybe undo will help?

Thanks, I'm thinking that maybe I'll sample the EW instruments I use most and rebuild them in HISE (since it can export Linux VSTs). I'll do the same with my Kontakt patches too. I guess I'd be able to share the patches as well - without the samples of course.

Never experienced something like this too, but concerning crashes, as Jack mentioned maybe elastique2 is the problem? (removed from newer Reaper native linux versions because of crashes). If you manually added the elastique2.so file to <Reaper install path>/Plugins/, then only "Efficient" and "Soloist" mode runs without crashing.

If you have the setting active in prefs (default is on), there are .rpp-bak files in your project folder, which are older backup files of your project.

that trackbar control is only used in a few places, e.g. in the prefs/reamote, prefs tooltips control, etc.

Adwaita-dark theme
My attempt to make reaper theme consistent with Adwaita-dark gtk theme:
If anyone is interested, here's download link:
https://mega.nz/#!qth0kAST!PwsvLKqio...SDfCuf2DG2a770
'Resources' and 'libSwell.colortheme' goes to reaper root directory, 'Adwaita-dark.ReaperThemeZip' goes to '~/.REAPER/ColorThemes'

I'd say test completely without elastique to be sure (remove the .so file). If it crashes reaper in one mode, it's probably buggy in the other modes too.

Did anyone notice the new build? Update swell and get to testing preliminary video support..!
I'd appreciate if someone on Archlinux could test with VLC codecs, as I can't get that to work, no matter what video format I'm trying.

I'm not on Arch, but for me video works unexpectedly well, even video processor works.
I've tested few avi, mp4 and mkv files with following codecs: mjpeg, h264

Hm yeah, I agree. I would start without elastique2.so and see if the problem persists.

While it would be cool, I think this would be hard to implement. I.e. resizing controls would also involve moving them around in some cases.

There is some kind of bug with the new 5.404 version.
When i try to run Reaper through the desktop literally nothing happens, so I try through the command line and get this:
"MessageBox: This project failed the last time a load was attempted:
/home/david/reaper-projects/fcfm/organ power/organ power 2.RPP
Would you like to load it anyway? REAPER - Previously failed while loading project
SWELL: swt 'REAPER - Previously failed while loading project'"
I CAN'T see any Window asking me to select yes or no to reload the project, and I can't type anything into the terminal.
If I go back to version 5.403 it works fine, I get the dialog box asking if I want to load the project and all is well.

Did you update your git repo and rebuild swell too (if you build it yourself)?

Hey, actually I just saw that too.
The level of customization with Reaper linux native is really amazing.
Be sure to checkout Prefs/General/Advanced UI&system tweaks ->Scale UI elements.. too.

Two notes for themers:
1. If you should have your customized libSwell.colortheme file in /WDL/WDL/swell/ (and link to it) create a backup before running "make clean" (it will be cleaned now).
2. You can add

Yeah I hope the looping bug gets fixed! It's amazing how good Drumgizmo is, well it depends on the library used but it's a winner for me in the free world.

It's good to get some feedback on LinVst.
I've added 32 bit vst support, and there is a 32 bit vst only version and a version that autodetects and automatically runs 64 bit and 32 bit windows vst's.
32 vst's need a 32 bit WINEPREFIX https://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ#How_do_I..._bit_system.3F
I've given up on using wine-devel on my system because of some problems and I'm using wine-stable which is, much more stable lol.
wine-devel had multiple 60 second timeouts occurring at startup which would throw LinVst into a spin, whereas wine-stable has no startup timeouts on my system.

I played again with some small bits of swell here.
Really hope it's that easy like it seemed to be...
Especially for the last one, I'm afraid I have no clue what the return value 1 does but it seems to work.

Compiled the latest libswell code from git and using the latest version of Reaper. Now Reaper crashes when trying to open a menu in the Midi editor.

Maybe something to think about that I've noticed.
Gdk window stacking order/focus.
It seems like some windows hide behind other windows when they should be brought to the front.

I can reproduce it on Ubuntu 14.04, xfwm 4.11 and libgtk 3.10 ("segmentation fault"). What are your system specs?
I think it is caused by this commit.
First I was able to make Reaper crash immediately on opening the menu, now strangely the menu opens. But I can make it crash when I move the mouse on the menu bar, quickly creating and destroying menus.
Hoping so much it's not a Gtk 3.10 only bug...
