Hi schwa (or anyone)-
From my post #29 above:
Quote:
|
First I get a Windows error 87 "One of the parameters was invalid.". When I click Ok to close that box (and even it isn't fully displayed), I get a REAPER error saying "Canvas cannot be re-drawn" or something to that effect. Any ideas from those errors?
|
I haven't been able to repro this yet starting with a bare-bones project, so I'll start paring back the one it happened in consistently next chance. Any thoughts about what could cause this, just to speed up the process a bit?
Thanks-
-Susan

It seems like that is a problem with my MIDI keyboard. Most likely not a REAPER issue, just a coincidence. Sorry.

I don't think that error is coming from Reaper, it looks like it's coming from a plugin.

Ok, I thought it might be, but the Title Bar for the "Canvas..." error window read "Reaper", so that threw me off. I'll start pulling the plugs .

Solo track does not solo track with rewire template
Something weird, maybe not related to this pre version, but nonetheless:
My rewire track template (see signature); when loading an existing reason song and playing that back when rewired to reaper:
solo-ing one track does not filter out other channels.
Did I miss a setting or is this otherwise explainable ... ?

This is probably not it but just in case..
do you have the "solo in front" option ticked in the "options" menu?

Nope, with that option no difference.
I found (by right clicking!) the following, and that works:
Choose Solo (ignore routing)

Anyone else seem to be having more pops and glitches with 3.131 pre 2?
before this I had no glitches at all and now with the same settings something seems to have changed. it is low latency at 64 buffer size but was fine before
Could it be that there are quite a few 32bit files in this song (although my disk read is only at about 2.56mb and quad processor at around 35 percent max)
anything changed "under the hood"

Graphics issue - menus
Here's an example of what I'm seeing re menus going black. I have only one plug in this project (NI Bandstand), and there's no data in the tracks. The project was only open for a few minutes before I started getting this:
http://screencast.com/t/slCYggAV8bu
I went back to 3.13, loaded the same project, and haven't been able to repro this after trying for several minutes, doing the same things I was doing with 3.131 pre 2 -- basically just switching to different apps and back, mousing around, etc.
Any ideas why this would happen only in 3.131 pre2? I'll keep trying to repro it in 3.13 in the meantime.
Thanks-
-Susan
Edit: I gave up trying to repro this in 3.13 after a little under 2 hours.

[edit]
In 3.131pre2 there is a Windows graphics leak in this specific case:
- User has customized either the TCP context menu or the media item context menu
- SWS extension is installed
This is probably the cause of the graphics weirdness. The cause is ambiguity about who is responsible for cleaning up (which is often a problem at home as well as work ). We'll sort this with SWS for the next build. In the meantime in 3.131pre2, you can either reset those two menus to the defaults, or move the SWS extension out of the way temporarily.

Do you have customized menus? If so can you post your reaper-menu.ini?
This looks like some sort of graphic object mismanagement, though we don't know where it's happening. If it happens again can you go to the task manager, select columns, show user objects and GDI objects, and then take a screenshot?
|
Yes, it happens consistently after a few minutes working with 3.131pre2, although it doesn't seem to depend on a specific sequence of events nor a specific plug-in.
I do have customized menus, so I'll post that file (see attached - renamed .txt).
I'll take a task manager screen shot next chance.
Thanks!

I've been testing your build #11 for just a few minutes with REAPER 3.131 pre2, but I think that fixed the problem, since otherwise it would have already reared its ugly head by now.
Thanks very much!

THE CRASHING ISSUE IS NOT GUITAR RIG 4.
this is all i need to do for a consistent repro:
arm track 1
record two bars (from the offset measure1)
\NO FX on track
\NO other tracks
virgin project

Thank you so much for fixing Clear Type problems all around (Windows build only), but I just wanted to make it known that JS FX still do not allow Clear Type.
Thanks for fixing this so far!!!

How about a theme setting for Big clock font? So we can use a separate font which doesn't alias as much when the clock is enlarged?

API - MIDIEditor_OnCommand(), help screen a little corrupted for this call but it looks as though it's meant to return bool - always seems to return TRUE (1) though

MIDIEditor_OnCommand should return false if there is no open MIDI editor window to receive the command.

This looks like it's working properly here. Probably you opened the action dialog from the main Reaper window and selected the MIDI editor section from the dropdown. The way it stands now, you need to open the action dialog from the window that will receive the action -- try opening the action dialog from the MIDI editor.

Roger, captain! Works now, depending on the window from which is opened.
In the final release, might this be changed not to be sensitive like this or? I mean, if I select MIDI Editor actions from anywhere, it's clear that the loaded ReaScript is intended to work only with MIDI editor and not main view, right?

The action dialog is tied to the window that created it because you might have multiple MIDI editors open. We could maybe add some intelligence so it does the right thing if you only have one MIDI editor open.

reaper makes up for disabled fx/notes
might concern older versions, too, I don't know. I detected this behaviour in v3.131pre3:
Let's say, you have a song with a midi item that pilots a VSTi. Now play the location where the midi item is positioned and:
-disable fx (VSTi) while playing
-wait until end of midi item
-enable fx again (play position after midi item)
Reaper will now catch up and play the missed midi item, even if the song is already stopped. In case of a long midi item/note like a pad this can be annyoing.
cheers,
m

relative pasting in time selection seems broken to me?
Pasting this here as well as I'm sure this keeps coming and going as a problem..
If you use the "copy portion of items within time selection" option BUT you have the items start one bar after the time selection, when you then paste this copied time selection area further on in the track it USE to remember the gap between the start of the time selection and the first item but now it doesn't (on my system anyway), it pastes the first item at the edit position regardless of the time selection gap.
So it is not relative anymore.
anyone reproduce this or offer insight?
Mercado? I think you helped last time?

Exactly. The item on track 1 would start exactly where the edit cursor is placed (bar 7 in your ani) without the gap. Relations between items is maintained correctly.

hmmmm... weird. So there's no difference from regular copy/paste then? Time to test with different preferences.
