Independence free... is it stable and reliable?
Hello,
after installing Indipendence Free, I tried using it in REAPER.
First, I could not load presets with "Origami LE" in the name, then I got two wild crashes in 30 minutes in. After bringing it out of my project, I stopped having crashes.
So, I wonder, is it reliable or does it have problems - in REAPER or any other hosts?
Thanks,
Mario

I remember a lot of trouble (crashes) on windows xp with Independence sampler Pro. Never tried the free version.
I get a few crashes now & then by changin the instrument in Independence on my mac too.
But never with Independece FX-Rack (which I use everyday).
Did not test it in another sequencer.... so I don´t know if it is a reaper or a yellowtools-problem, but it IS a problem.
I asked for this a time ago and Tallisman reported he has had no trouble/crashes with Independent free.

I haven't had any troubles with it, it runs well in Reaper on my intel core2 duo PC in windows XP.
I just used the preset library though, I haven't loaded samples from outside.
I like its electric basses, epianos and organs quite a bit.

I played around with the drums in it quite a bit about 6 months ago and it was stable in Reaper. A bit slow to loaf but I had no stability problems. I haven't used it much lately though.

I haven't had any more trouble with it than I've had with others. I recently upgraded from Free to pro 2.5.2, and it seems very stable and faster.

A bit crashy for me. And I didn't think it sounded all that spectacular compared to other smaller footprint software available.

I like it - but some reason, I couldn't get the drum kits to play recently. ??? I'll give it another go, but that set me back on trusting the plug.

i really only use it for bass here, but it seems to work without issue. 1.5 didn't play with pt8, but the 1.5.2 version seems to have fixed that.

I like it
My computer is AMD Athlon 1.79 Gb with only 386Mb Ram, and Independence Free runs smoothly on my machine with Reaper.
I am thinking of ordering more RAM, which I am thinking will enhance my computer's performance for samplers such as Independence Free.
Origami takes up more CPU than any other effect, according to the Independence Manual.
Independence Free does slow down on occasion, depending on how many other plugins I am using, and I find that it slows down when I adjust the crossfade of a sample while I am playing a loop at the same time. So What. Its great anyway.
I would like to know if it is possible to load your own Impulse Responses into Origami in the Independence Free version. It seems disabled in the free version, but maybe I am just not doing it right.
Anyway, I like independence Free a lot, use it all the time. I have created numerous drumkits and synthesizers from .wav files. The chorus, I think is very good, the reverbs and origami are very good. The filters are good, but very sharp at higher resonance. The free envelope modulation is awesome. It took me a month to learn how to use Independence, Ive pretty much read (skimmed) over the entire manual.
Its tied for first place as THE best freebie, I think, right now anyway.

I use it sometimes and really like the Bass & drum sounds a lot, best of the freeware for bass sounds that i,ve tried.
I find it stable for the most part, BUT, it will crash if you change patches/instruments on the fly on my machine ( intel dual core, xp2 ). So now if i want to change the sound i just stop playback first and no crashes.
Cheers
