Option for child tracks to adopt parent folder color
Currently:
When adding new track to an existing folder, the track takes on the default colors.
Would want option:
"Track color follows parent folder color". When changing the color of the parent track, all child tracks take on the same color. When inserting a new track, the new track takes on the color of the folder parent track.
Why:
Setting a folder and its child tracks to the same color, distinguishes nicely what belongs together, especially in the mixer (where folder-end indications are currently missing).

Currently I do this by selecting all tracks in a folder at once (with shift- or ctrl-click) and rightclick - set track to custom color (works also within the mixer if you click on the right spot).
Not such a big deal for me.
But I agree, what you suggested would certainly be practical and a workflow improvement.

A native option is always better but FYI this can be done with Xenakios/sws extension.

Voted yes.
I am not an extension guy, so this would be great if it was native.

It can?
I can find only the "Set the selected track(s) children to same color", it only does half of what I want, the easy half I want new tracks added to a folder to get the folder color automatically.

If you're not dragging n dropping tracks but adding them with 'add new track' option just create a macro with it plus 'set selected track(s) to previous track's colors'. Again, a native version would be even better.

this would be a good candidate for a ReaScript workaround - could write a script which runs the change color action if only non-folder tracks are selected and prompts the user with "color all children?" if folders are selected - or a simple script which colors all children automatically...
one of the cool things about ReaScript is that you can check to see whats selected and have different actions execute depending...

Yes please, no asking the user, if so we can just as well work the way we have to now. Minimize the number of clicks, that's important.
