Default How to create a short midi loop

I been using Reaper for a while now, but I can never figure out how to do this easily:

Let's say I have a midi drum track. I want to select a part of the track and then put that to a new track as a midi loop - so that when I drag the end of the item to the right it starts the loop again and keeps looping it as I drag.

I know this has to do with setting the start and end point of the item but I can never seem to get it corret.

Please help.

Default

-- set the Time Selection around the part that you want to copy
-- right-click >> Copy loop of selected area of itmes (or Ctrl+Alt+L)
-- new track (Ctrl+T)
-- paste (Ctrl+V), drag out as desired
