Default metering

I know i'm very late to this discussion which is cool but I do have an idea for the vertical which may not have been considered. If the goal is to introduce visual metering on minimised tracks and to steal as little screen as possible in the process. the answer may be in blending.
In this model, the track is the meter. By blending a new background color against the track you can still see all the track params and see that the track is being activated ... There may be something in that.
So the track is like see through .. and the activity happens underneath it?
Anyway .. use it lose it ..Im new here so I dont know escalation or anything works here. If somebody thinks this is useful ..

So yeah,

Yep. That's mostly all they're for, activity tracking. You also can track with them but tracking is but a very small part of using a daw. After that we spend hours and days editing and mixing.

But they'd be useless a lot of the time if the same meter doesn't meter midi activity also. As an example of that in others the vertical TCP meters look much the same for both data streams. I'm personally not a fan of Reaper's little red midi activity line and I'm not sure how that would play out on a tiny vertical TCP meter.

I BERRLY NEED BIG METERS FOR MIXING AS WELL, I USE MY EARS. AND THE MASTER SHOW ME ENOUGH DETAILS CLIPS...

IF I WANT TO TRACE SPECIFIC VOL ISSUE, I CAN OPEN THE MIXER FOR A SEC...I DON'T NEED THOSE BIG METERS TO STEAL MY ATTENTION ALL THE TIME.
