v4 : Snap to Samples
this screenshot shows a few things:
* item positioning and edit cursor can be snapped to project samplerate! woo-hoo
* Grid isnt rounded to samplerate - please, could you add it optionally?
* Slip content is still subsample accurate - ( i guess + Item editing: snap slip edits ("contents not edges") to sample rate grid - is related, but how to activate it?)
* Media CUEs are a bit off-positioned, they should be right on samples imo
please, dont abandon this now that we're 'halfway there'

I'd be up for a musical grid that reflected the actual sample rate even if it meant the grid being off BUT perhaps it should only be shown as adjusted when we have the snap to samples option on.
This could be a lot of work though behind the scenes..

Ok, after checking things out a bit, the snap to samples works ok, but you guys are so close to having the cursor snap to items edges when clicking the timeline. It just needs to be able to snap if items are zoomed out, or some way to control the sensitivity. The snap to items edge's if my only hold up as far as Reaper is concerned.

+1 billion!!! The lowest value at all should be samples only in any DAW.
I'll add my voice to bbb.
....and we need a grid value in samples.

PT is a different bread. It's always been sample based and made to run in real-time etc.

otoh its a question what it should do on a 48k sample in a 44.1k session, for eg? snap to 48k or 44.1?

To my surpise, sprinkled with some fairy dust delight, you can actually cut, split and trim on the sample grid, which I might add is an excellent thing to have on by default.
I can't tell if that's the case, having messed around a great deal with my settings already.
I'm testing on Alpha 14.

Since it's part of the project settings, no.
I had to save a template and indicate this to be the default for "New project". I think it should be the default.
And yes,
+1 to having "Move item contents" obey the sample snap at all times.
The same for "Move item edges but not content". You can't let project-rate audio get off that grid, or you'll be in the dog house just like you used to be.

Bump for version 4 snapping! Zoomed in now allows the cursor to snap to items edge's when clicking on the ruler (timeline), when snap to sample rate is enabled. Why not when it's zoomed out? This is one of the most Basic audio editing features, that's missing in Reaper, and it's be mentioned back in the early days of Reaper since 2006.
