Default Completly new, BFD2 32 / 64 bit issue

Hi all...

I just installed Reaper, comes from 15 years of Cubase use (untill 5.1) and I like Reaper philosophy.
But !
I started a nice midi project on Cubase, which I midi exported and imported in Reaper. Now, I'm trying to play it.
I use BFD2 64bit. When I set the FX window on a midi track I'd like to be played by BFD, I can see it opens BFD32bit...
In the vst option, I put only the 64bit vst folder but it still the 32bit version on the plugin UI, written (x86 bridged)

I made some research on this forum without finding a correct answer...

What should I do ?
HELP !

Hello JoPo and welcome to these forums. You'll find many helpful people here and a lot of useful information.

You are using Reaper 64-bit? Please double check.

If the "64bit vst folder" is the only one in Reaper's Preferences then Reaper should never find the 32-bit edition.

In the Preferences, try a "Clear cache and Rescan". Also, what are the full path names to your 32-bit and 64-bit VST folders? And the full path names to the BFD plug-ins?

More later, depending on your answers.

Well... That's what I already did !

I must say I'm completly lost ! I don't know of to affect a track to an already opened VSTi !

I there anywhere a Reaper start tutorial ? Cause I don't find any basic answer in the manual ! Such as how to affect an imported midi track to an opened VSTi ! Argh !

I must find a beginer FAQ or tutorial or something like this because since 3 hours, I don't even get a sound !

There is an excellent video on Reaper 4 available from Groove3, see details here:

http://www.groove3.com/str/reaper-4-explained.html.

Groove3 is having a sale at the moment... with a 30 day All-Access pass for $15. Great deal!

These videos are highly recommended.

(I have no affiliation with Groove3 other than being a satisfied user!)

Yes. In fact, I had to delete the 32bit BFD2.dll. And now, it's ok.

Thanks to bluzkat ! I can see "reaper-4-explained" full of nice advices ! But it looks like it's 35$ ! I hope I can find some free tuto on the web !

Maybe, but meanwhile, post here what, specifically, you want to do and someone will surely help.

!!! I just noticed the BFD2 midi mapping is upside down !!!
It explains a lot of my troubles...

I'm loading Cubase to save BFD midi mapping in order to open it in Reaper.

I already like the load / close time of Reaper ! With Cubase, I need 5 mn to load the project !

JoPo,

The 30 day All-Access pass for Groove3 is only $15. That grants you access to all their videos. (Nice BFD videos available )

Hope that works for you.

That's it !
Now, I can play my Cubase project exactly the same in Reaper. I stuck 3 hours in a weird thing : I made a Kontakt (for instance : I use a lot of several output VSTi) folder track, then send it midi data tracks and send the audio into a track which I assign to a ASIO output.
I'm using SC Scope and I have 32 stereo asio output. For 3 hours, I tried to get some sound but impossible. The "last" track which carrie the sound was inside the VSTi folder track. Then I tried to send the audio data to an "outside" track (I mean not in the folder track) then I get AT LEAST the sound ! At this point, it became easy but It still don't understand why when I put the audio track inside the VSTi (multi-output) folder track, the sound stops.
Anyway, now I'm assigning keyboard shortcuts to have the same as in Cubase.
By the way ! Is there a way to have a shortcut which replaces the playing bar exactly at the point where it started playback ? I don't find it and it's essential for my fingers !
I have also to set up some midi remote controls but I'll do it tomorrow !

Thanks a lot to all !

Check your routing. My guess is that placing the audio track inside the folder creates a feedback loop (eg VSTi track > audio track > VSTi track).
REAPER prevents such feedback loops by default.

If you post an example project, some clever beggar will find the problem for you.

Where it started playback? I'm not sure I understand you. By default:

If you press stop (or the Space bar), the next playback will begin from the same point as the last.

If you press pause (or the Enter key), the next playback will begin from the point at which you paused.

If you press M, you will create a numbered marker, and can later jump to that marker by pressing the appropriate number key.

HTH

I guess your're right but I did (I believe I did !) like the guy in this video-tuto : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qacAiCCD4j0 and for me, no sound.

In Cubase, you can adjust a keyboard shortcut, when you hit 'play', ok, it plays , and as soon as you hit this shorcut, it goes back exactly where the play started, without stoping. Very convenient. Anyway, I think I need to change a bit my habits.
