Default Newbie having problems getting a PV8 usb to work...

Hey guys. Really hope you can help.

I'm running Reaper on a MacBook (OS X 10.6.8), with a Peavey PV8usb desk as an interface, but I can't get it to run multiple channels into Reaper, just a master output.

Anyone have any ideas?

Well, I've used a PV16FX with a USB out, and the only thing it can do is stereo left/right output. It can not do anymore channels. It can not give individual instruments out to different Reaper inputs.

So I suspected your PV8 has the same issue. Then I went to Peavey's site and looked at the instruction manual for the PV8. It says...

The USB port sends the mixer's main/tape stereo out to the computer.

The USB port receives digital audio from the computer; it an then be assigned throught the "Tape/USB to Mix" switch (14) to the main left/right output.

So, unfortunately left and right master out is the only thing you can do with that mixer. It is a mixer that happens to have USB out.

What a DAW interface like the Roland Quad-Capture or the Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 does is include software that make them output individual channels into Reaper, and the software also lets you monitor the mix out from the computer through the interface. This software controls latency.

The software that comes with a DAW interface will show up in Reaper with the same number of channels as there are inputs to the interface.
