Default Question: vst3 multiport?

I don't know if somebody asked this already.

Do you plan to add vst3 Multiport support so one can access up to 48 Midiports x16 Midi channels per Vienna Ensemble Pro instance?

Know this is on the cusp of the v5 release, but has there been any further work on VST3 Multiport MIDI support, specifically for use with Vienna Ensemble Pro?

This is *THE* only feature holding me back from not using Cubase anymore for the really big arrangements. Really want to make REAPER 5 my one and only DAW.

Supposedly it's implemented, but devs didn't explain how to actually use it. :/

Thanks, ED. I hope they explain it to us if that's the case.

I'll try to use see if I can make it work through experimentation in the meantime.

Did you check out the options inside the plug-in pin connector?

That's the "2 out" (by default) button in the plugin window. Inside that there's an I/O button. Click that and select MIDI Output / Map VST3 MIDI buses to REAPER MIDI buses.

Once that's done the MIDI send buses in track I/O settings seem to work fine with VE Pro here.

Well, I guess that one is sorted out then!

(Devs, VST3 supports more than 16 MIDI ports, FYI )

paaltio - Thanks a million! It works perfectly. My VEP5 VST3 plugin is responding to all 16 ports (of 16 MIDI channels each) that REAPER has available. I didn't try all 256 total MIDI channels to make sure, but did a random assortment of different ports and channel combinations, and each correct match-up works lie it's expected to.

Bye bye Cubase!

Can you post a screenshot please? Thank you!

Just right-click the I/O button in the plugin window and see "MIDI Input" and "MIDI Output" menus...

Great news. I'll port my orchestral template over to reaper next week and give it a go.

One question for me remains ms how to record the note event channel change while I'm playing live.
Any ideas?

Thanks

Did you manage to get more than 16 MIDI ports/busses in Reaper?

For those not knowing how to config Reaper to talk to Vienna Ensemble Pro via VST3 midi busses, EvilDragon will show you in this thread:

Please,help! :-)
When I use Vienna Ensemble Pro in multiport mode,CC messages sends to Vienna
ONLY through MIDI BUS 1.(Midi Port 1).Through all other MIDI busses sends only
messages tips "note",i.e.I can play, but all controllers don't work.

Win7 x64 Reaper x64 5.05pre1 & pre8b.
