Default boredom

Some strange piece I started out at the laptop out of boredom. Finally I continued adding some guitars played with e-bow. So, what do you think?

cheers,
M

Enjoyed that... it held my attention to the end and I played it over again - nice work!

Great little piece.

Love the big kit sound?

Great production as well.Although the beat is metronomic that suits this style

Love the big kit sound as well, at about 1.10 to 1.20 I felt the transition felt a little awkward to me, but that’s probably my personal taste

I listened to a couple of others, Girl in corner, stood out for me.

Reminds me of some early-mid Genesis stuff. Nice build to the end of the song, everything kept morphing a little bit more to keep things interesting. I think it still needs that focal point like a vocal or something but I think it's for sure a fantastic start to something really cool. Great job...

I'm not a huge fan of electronic stuff, so I might be biased. However, I felt the guitar lines could be MUCH LOUDER. And less verb, since all the tracks the guitar is sitting over are so up front and in your face. Makes the guitar sound weak, and I do so love strong guitars!

Compositionally, the song is awesome.

thanks for your detailed feedback! Actually I tend to make guitars too loud, but maybe this time I was too careful. I'll have a second listen concerning your points!

Thanks, well, if anyone is up for vocals, I'd be glad :-)

I'm a bass player that plays a little of everything that doesn't sing just yet. I am willing if you need some bass help though.

Come on Markus, we all know guitars can't be TOO loud!

I personally like the mix of electronic & heavy guitars, like peanut butter & jam. To me this one sounds like a really good start, I'd like to hear it develop but I like what I hear so far!

Yeah, liking this tune for sure! I'm also in the "I'm not really into electronic" types, but I'm finding more and more that I like it when it's heavy. Seems to be that I also like electronic music when rockers (prog or no-nonsense types) do it.

Are you planning on doing anything else with this or is it done? Sounds done to me. Would be a great track to break up a set of more complex tunes (like you normally tend to write). This one just lays back and pulls you into it's groove.

Nice one, man.

Hey kindafishy,

thanks, glad you like it! Good idea to maybe separate the more complicated pieces with this one. Actually I wasn't sure if it's ready. But maybe it doesn't need a solo or anything like that. Maybe it's the overall thing that makes this tune, I don't know ...

cheers,
Markus

well i *am* an electronica guy, and i think the guitars could be louder

and the metronome drums work for me generally, but might use a couple more fill/drop/funk/something on occasion - maybe to accent a transition...

Hey moio,

I like the song. Could use a simple drum fill here and there, maybe, leading into different sections, IMO. Just an accent or extra hit. What is the snare you use for the acoustic, "cracky" sound?

"Issues"... what do you use for drums on that tune? I like the sound of that snare in particular, too.

Good stuff.

Thanks.

hey,

thanks for listening again, guys.

@mixer: concerning the boredom snare I have to look it up. It's a free drum loop I got somewhere. the drums on issues is the DHF expansion set on EZ drummer ...

Thanks for sharing. I didn't like this one as much as many of your other wonderful pieces. This one was straight-jacketed, something like turning pages of a book one after the other with nothing printed on them. Or rather, with the same thing printed on each one. I gather it is more about sound, less about music. Or maybe it is about boredom instead of what that kickass song of yours is about - Aliens Stole My Brain, which had many lines and chords, many contrasts and changes, many solos and sections.

Were the guitars too soft? Well, I could hear them very clearly.

I will look forward to the next one you post.

Really like the e-bow.

I like the contrast of 808 drums and the acoustic drums. This tune sort of brings "Dr. Who" to mind.
