Default "Oak Island" needs a real drummer - any takers?

Hi, everyone - Bought myself a Roland v-Drums kit (TD-4s). It's a great tool, but I found that even with quantizing and some great controls and sounds via Superior Drummer, I still sound like an amateur.

"Oak Island" is a new song that could really use the deft, subtle touch of a real drummer. It's a ballad that fits somewhere between pop and country. I hear lots of ghost notes and rim shots, but that's just my bias.

Here's the demo track: http://www.box.net/shared/ky7q6cnios6tb6ug03bx

RPP file and all wav files: http://db.tt/78hVFkK

Anyone want to take a stab at this? Drumming credits are yours of course if I can get anything done with the song (ie placement/publishing).

I'll be over here playing my egg shaker. THAT I've gotten really good at! :-P

Dave

LYRICS for reference:
OAK ISLAND
Words and Music by David Keats, (C) 2011

This is the ending no one thinks about
I hope this letter lets me sort it out while there’s still time
I might be gone but you’re still here – blue eyes, gold hair and no fear
Don’t you let the fire burn out in your heart

You go girl – you go girl
Live long and marry right
May you be strong – move on - love with all your might
And I owe you, I owe you
For every smile, every tear, every moment you were near
Love again but please don’t take his hand and watch the sun set on Oak Island

Everyone said they’ll keep an eye on you
Whether or not you really want them to – they've got your back
Remember long drives to the beach in the wintertime – ove as pure as the Carolina sunshine
Wrapping my arms around you as we sat on the sand
My sun will set before long
I know you’ll struggle to hold on
Darkess will give way to the dawn

You go girl – you go girl
Live long and marry right
May you be strong – move on - love with all your might
And I owe you, I owe you
For every smile, every tear, every moment you were near
Love again but please don’t take his hand and watch the ship sail past Oak Island

SOLO

Take this letter once you've read it and find a match
You'll be running blind if you're always looking back
Take this letter once you've read it and find a match

And go girl – just go girl
Live long and marry right
May you be strong – come back - to live a brilliant life
And I owe you, I owe you
For every smile, every tear, every whisper in my ear
Love again but please don’t take his hand and watch the sun set on Oak Island

Playing around with it now using AD. The tempo is actually 72.5. Give me the weekend to mess with it. And thanks!

Yeah, I realized that after all the rough tracks were done. Pure idiocy on my part. And I've tried to change it in project settings but all the tracks slow to a crawl. Not sure how to fix it!

I started with your 'no drums' mp3, converted to wav, dragged into a track and matched an AD beat to it with bpm set at 145, which was how i discovered the 72.5. So just now I started a new session, set the bpm at 72.5 and dragged your wav stems into individual tracks (just the acoustic 1, bass, drums and lead vocal) and it all plays correctly at 72.5. Then I added a couple of AD beats, one for verse and one for chorus, muted your drums and it plays correctly also. So I'm off to a start anyway.

It'll be fun to work on. Nice song too! Reminds me a little of the more laid back Jude Cole songs, especially on 'Falling Home'

Check this out:

Obviously CK drums is the one. This is very rough, but I think it's going somewhere . . . I'm sorry your voice is so prominent and the drums need fills, etc. but I really like the song.

I'd be honored to jam on this song. Not only is it a nice SONG, but the freaking lyrics are KILLING me. I'm 35, and in a VERY happy relationship. I'd almost forgotten what a broken heart felt like. You sure done reminded me.

Thank you - I'm glad the lyrics touched you! That's what it's all about.

Hmm, I don't have a dropbox or anywhere to upload the project file for you.

I could email you a mixed down drum track. (which leaves little room for change on your end)

The other option is: what version of Superior are you using? Do you have the NY Studios kits, or the Metal Foundry? I can just send you the midi track, and save a preset for Superior for you. That way you can stick it back into your project file and tweak to your heart's content.

Also, I've listened to this song too many times. After enough times, I start hearing "Go girl, Live well, and Barry White".
