A ripple of applause for this one!! Thanks Cockos

# Re: Items: do not display item edge mouse cursors when 'lock item edges' is enabled

Very helpful! The same could also apply to locked items. Currently the edge icons show, and so does the '4-way move' drag icon.

Got this too. Running OS X 10.10 on my laptop. I'll try on my production machine with Mavericks when I get home.

The x86-64 DMG doesn't work here either (on Mac OS X 10.6.8), the i386 DMG works fine though. I guess the x86-64 one got corrupted somehow.

On my Win XP system, enabling the option Locked items are unaffected by ripple has what I think the opposite of the intended effect ...

i.e. ONLY locked items within the selection are ripple edited, unlocked items are not.

I can post RPP file if you like ...

Nice work guys - thanks! And thanks Drew for nudging (boom boom) on this one.

Next thing to think about for the ripple function could be a "post edit ripple" action - that'd be awesome. In other words, an action that performs the single ripple after the move edit when you hit the shortcut. This means you don't need to worry about where the toggle is, which is always a pain... rippling is generally something you do once in a while rather than something you need to toggle on.

Unless... there's currently a way to hold down a key to ripple while mousing, ie not toggle?

Cheers

Ben

In the mouse maps you can assign modifiers for "move with ripple this track" or "move with ripple all tracks"

It would be good if we could set these options by actions. I can see myself wanting to change the behaviour of the locked items semi-regularly, depending on what I'm doing. It would be awkward to have to go into prefs to change it every time.

It would be good if it could be a cycle action so I could have a toolbar button next to the ripple button that would cycle through the four different modes.

What does it mean exactly? I'm pretty sure i've used 3.4 version before without any problems.

Seems broken on take envelopes.

If you do something like SetCursorContext(2, takeEnvelope), envelope will indeed get selected, but pressing DELETE afterwards won't delete it's selected points.

SELECTING ITEMS IS BROKEN in this pre.

1. Create a track
2. Select a track
3. Select item with right-mouse drag
4. Try to delete item
5. ERROR: Reaper wants to delete track rather than selected items

This WASN'T broken in the 4.7 (just checked it).

Hmm, can't duplicate this here. Confirm that it is pre4, and OS version? Can you post a zip with your reaper.ini and reaper-mouse.ini as well? Thanks!

Hi!
Dammit, I feel a bit stupid, because it is hard to recreate it for me now :/

1. It is Reaper 4.74 pre 4 x64, win 8.1
2. It does not happen on clean project.
3. It did happen on this project: http://goo.gl/Al2Eb3
4. After your post it did happen again on mentioned project but after restarting Reaper reloading project the behaviour came back to normal. Weird.
5. My reaper.ini and reaper-mouse.ini: http://goo.gl/h1tWjc

Great to see some OSC fixes. Good job!
While you're at it, can we please have master select osc feedback as well?

And also a way to know which tracks are empty. May I suggest naming empty tracks [empty] or something.

Thanks for the ini files dr_After! However we still can't duplicate this "issue"... Some related things will be improved for the next build though, so please let us know if that fixes thing for you!

Thanks for reply, Jeffos! I will surely will try to track this bug when it will appear again. Maybe it was some one-time issue, because it didn't appear in later hours of my work.

ahhh, thanks for the report, I could duplicate on Win: "2bis. Click a docked toolbar button, e.g. lock button" was missing in your reproductions steps. The improvements I was talking about indeed fix the issue.

BTW, more details about "cursor context fixes" and what has changed in this pre:

... means fixes for buglets like:
  • On OSX: "selected an item that I would be about to remove, clicked toolbar to enter ripple and hit delete: nothing happened - I had to reselect the item"
  • On Win: select an item, select a track, click toolbar/ripple, hit delete: the selected item is removed, not the selected track
