Default Weirdness with EZ Drummer, windows 10 and registry???

Hi guys!

I'm still trying to look for answers searching the forum, but it seems that my problems is uncommon.

I've been given an ASUS laptop running on Win 10 for my birthday. I reinstalled all my studio software and started running things.
Some of the plug-ins I used to work with wouldn't install.
I was on Vista previously.
Anyhow, I chose to skip some of these unavailable plugs and keep working with others.

Eventually, EZ Drummer wouldn't work anymore.
It said it couldn't find the sound files...
After many trials and reading the forum, I uninstalled Reaper and EZ Drummer and reinstalled...More than once.

Now I'm at the point where if I open Reaper as an administrator, it will load EZ Drummer no problem. If I save the project, close Reaper and reopen it, then it won't load EZ Drummer, I will still get the "Can't find sound files" message.
In the same manner, any previous work I did can't be opened and have EZD working in them.

I don't know how to address this. I'm running out of ideas.
Anyone?

Hi there,
If you get the project set up the way you want with EZ etc in it, then 'Save As' with the 'Move all media into project directory' box ticked, is it all there when you then re-open it?

There is also another preference for saving in the file menu - 'save as new project', also worth a try if moving media doesn't work.

Others will have other ideas I am sure
Good luck

I always save this way...Moving all media in the project folder.
It's not relevant since I can just open a session, call it X, load one track with EZD in it, no MIDI data, save it as X...And then if I re-open in, EZD won't work.

Is this the old version of EZD, or is it EZD2? EZD1 is discontinued and as such I am not sure what kind of support it has on the latest operating systems. You should contact Toontrack.

I've had some trouble with toontrack installing on win 10. Try running the install as an administrator. Right click on the setup file and click on "Run as administrator", that fixed my problems.

Download Toontrack Product Manager and use IT to do your install.

It is the most reliable way of getting your TT products installed & authorised.

Plus of course there are settings inside EZD to show you where everything is actually installed, rather than where you think it is installed. Oh and EZD1 is still very much a current, fully supported product.

Good luck!

Thanks for the replies guys, I will get busy on these suggestions.

Meanwhile I found ways to use my things no matter what...
But I'd rather have it running normally without the extra fidgeting.
