Default master track location - issue closed

Why does reaper master track default to the left. That seems backwards to me. For years the master volume is on the right. Is everyone wrong except reaper?

Yes

it in the same order as in the TCP. Master track is the first track number 0.

you can change it to the right too or float it.

I float mine but I do have to the left of everything else... for me that catches my eye better...

but you can have it just about anywhere you want it...

After always switching master track to the right, it came to me how to make that a default.

OK; I see why you like the left side, your used to driving on the wrong side also.

It's no good asking me, I'm left-handed. All those antique hardware mixers had the master controls on the wrong side by my reckoning.

Dont go down that rabbit hole. There are a lot of people on here which are sitting in that rabbit hole and are waiting to fire back on you for that remark or let some knights loose on you...

As said another time: the signal flows from left to right just like reading is from left to right. And the hardware-mixers are fine. If you are lefthanded, you could turn the mixer around and its master is on the left - for you. Problem solved.

Master on left felt weird just for a little while, but I got used to it surprisingly fast. It seems I tend to mouse center left, so the right side corners are furthest away from my usual focal point. I'm right-handed and still use several hardware boards too where master on right feels natural and right (pun), so it's not that either.

What is the purpose of the master, can you not configure any other track to do the same as the master and not have some of the limitations that is placed on the master?

Fact is majority of the world drives on the right and is right handed, so right must be correct.

To me — it doesn't.

In Logic Pro and, if I'm not mistaken, in Sonar it's in the Inspector, which is on the left.
Hasn't anyone asked their developers about how wrong that is?

I think, majority uses the same hand to operate the mouse to do stuff in the whole area of the screen, even on the left.
Do you feel that REAPER (and Logic Pro and Sonar, for that matter) are trying to force you to become left-handed and move to Britain?

Yeah, all lefties are communists. Or anarchists or Reaper user or worse... Or right handed knights at a tournament.

Yeah! ^^ so, so true

Left handidness is basically a bourgeois myth
totally exploited by the media and robber barons of the retail trade
in order to swell their already massive profits ....

Of course I knew. Most threading thing is: they now try to collude with the secret reptile government.

Seriously, really seriously: I have docked the master to the right and have 3 screensets assigned for different purposes, the first comes up automatically when I start a new project. All is fine. And I think that you can dock the master to the right as well... if you sympathize with the secret reptile government. :-)

But the majority of geniuses are left-handed which why, although we run the world, we're bright enough to let the righties carry on thinking they're in charge.

In Australia, it's the left side of the road which leaves the right hand free to casually drop the empty beer can or bottle out the window whilst remaining focused on driving, as road safety is important.

See, thats the modern world equivalent argument of the right-handed sword-swinging knight.
