Default Tempo changes in the timeline?

Is there a way to make tempo changes in the timeline in Reaper?

For example, if I want it at 120bpm to start then after 12 bars have the tempo change to 80, then at 16 bars, change back to 120.

I right clicked the timeline and found a menu option to change tempo and meter, however the tempo part was greyed out and I couldn't manipulate it.

Hit Shift-C to insert a "tempo/time signature marker" at the edit cursor.

Don't know why it is grayed out. Is anything locked?

Anyway, try moving the cursor to the time you want the tempo change and press shift+c

You can them type in the exact time and tempo.

I have been beaten twice today darn

Sue, thought I'd pass along a tip when editing songs with tempo changes in Reaper...click the Ripple Editing icon twice (Ripple "All" mode) when you need to move parts around and have the tempo changes follow...(make sure you get out of that mode when you're done and before you do other types of edits)...

This feature is what finally sold me on Reaper - I have to edit songs with absurd tempo changes constantly, and it's very time consuming in every other application I've used...Reaper really shines in this area, I've no idea why Pro Tools and others haven't included a feature like this that is so easy and intuitive...

jp, thanks alot for that tip. I was messing around with tempo last night and every time I changed it, everything on the timeline would get messed up and I'd have to re-align it all. This is going to save me alot of headache
