Default UVI Work Station installed, can't find .dll for Reaper Plug Ins

Hello everyone!

I'm at wit's end with this... I've successfully installed Ilok and UVI Workstation (Ilok was a HUGE pain in the ass BTW), but can not figure out how to get the .dll for the UVI Mello VST into Reaper, nor can I figure out how to install the VST into Reaper.

UVI has made this an extremely difficult and frustrating experience, and, from my experience and perception, has punished all of it's users with unnecessary steps to install their software. IMHO.

/rant.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Hello Leendrix and welcome to these forums. You'll find many helpful people here and a lot of useful information.

Have you installed / used other VST plug-ins in Reaper?

You will need to find / remember where the UVI installer put the VSTi plug-in. Perhaps search your complete disk (including hidden folders) for "UVI" ???

Then you can add that path to the VST path list in Reaper's Preferences. Check out 1.16 in the User Guide: http://www.cockos.com/reaper/userguide.php Then look at 2.11 for FX basics.

Thanks, DarkStar!

I have put quite a few plug ins and VST's into Reaper. But just can't find the .dll. I've found the UFS without a problem and can use it with the UVI work station, but can't find anything else.

UFS?

Hmm, if the VSTi was installed it must be on disk somewhere. I do not know UVI, but might suggest running the install again up to the point of selecting the VSTi folder, checking the default location in Explorer/Finder and then CANCELLING that install. (That's OK for installers from others, but, again, I do not know UVI).

Are you using Reaper 64-bit or 32-bit? And UVI 32 or 64?

Seems others had issues too:

and the classic:

But several people here have got it working.

Default Having same problem as well

I've posted this message in another thread but wondered if anyone had figured out how to sort the problem Leendrix was having? I have exactly the same problem myself.

I use UVI. When I get home later I'll check out how it installs.

Ok, mine (version 1.1.7) installs the DLL by default to c:\program files (x86)\steinberg\VSTPlugins

Point your Reaper VST directory to that, or you can reinstall UVI Workstation and choose where to install the DLL during installation.

Thanks you for this! Mine installed in the 64 bit directory: c:\program files\steinberg\VSTPlugins. But not far off from the 32 bit dir... Anyway, I agree with the OP. This suite is really cool however, the installation with all of the anti-piracy (ILOK) and blah blah ... find my UFS (which for me stands for unix file system) was a pain in my bumm.. Jus sayin.

I will send an email out to tell the folks how much a pain in my gluteus this was to install. Unfortunately it was a creative dampener... --- sounds are fantastic though...

First post here... cheers everyone
