Default Ok..So I released an album

I remembered on Sunday that last years New Years resolution was that I'd relase at least one album a year from now on..and I hadnt done it..so..I hastily decided to get it together and it went live at 11pm NYE.

I was initially gonna just make it a 14 track offering..but I just though feck it..I'll upload as many tunes as I could before the midnight deadline, to make good on my resolution and just, sure theres no point in just leaving tunes gather dust on my hard drive.

So,I present The Visionary Sounds Of...

http://gazlerock.bandcamp.com/

Thank you for listening and happy new year RPR POSSE!

All revenue from this enterprise is going towards the purchase of a new soundcard,or electricity.

Dude... 27 songs that's like three albums you could have been covered for the next two years.

its 31!

And I have another 30 tracker ready to go.

From here on out I'm raising my game though.

I'm going hi fi!if it kills me!Well..not hi fi exactly..but I know where its going..

I hope people can get some pleasure from it..and if they do..well they might buy it..its very cheap..and I can invest that money in better sound. If not..thats cool too.

I do it for me..its just what I do.

But the technology is there for me to distribute it..so distribute it I will!

You should make a judicious best of EP or album and market the hell out of it...
Your songs have serious potential. I will pimp it as much as i can.

"You fucked my amp up you prick" Awesome! I'm glad you got his fuzz.

The few songs I heard a very well done. And very cool. The drums are perfect. And your guitar sounds are fantastic. What's the guitar, amp and recording chain?

I'm buying your record but I need to figure out how to upload it to my Droid. I will return.

This is interesting. I take it you consider this album a "lo-fi" or perhaps a "budget" effort?? When I listen to it, I just assume that's the sound you're going for. I think it's fantastic. I assumed you did it on purpose. I was thinking you went to great lengths to get that sound.

And the lesson (it's the same lesson over and over): It's the music, not the gear!!!

1 constructive criticism: Think about releasing smaller efforts. 31 songs is a lot.

Guitar is all Amplitube man...BUT..I have a tube compressor on the front end that I use as a DI...gives it the proper tubey chime..its a TL AUDIO Fat1..You can pick them up cheap..savage on bass too.

I've gone to extreme lentghs to get that sound in fairness..11000 hours of REAPER in 2 years.
I'm only really getting happy with my efforts now.Still a lot to learn though.
My gear is shite and my room is untreated..I have but one microphone and a battered Squire Bass(which totally rocks).Ya gotta work with what ya got though.Anything is possible if you put in the effort.

Yeah..I later regretted putting 31 tracks on there..but I just needed to get them off of my computer..I've flipping loads still..and it was driving me a bit mental. It was originally only gonna be about 15 tunes approx..but I just thought WTF..next release will be normal length..I'm gonna just start releasing a album when I've enough songs and not let them build up.

PS. sorry for the big picture
Very nice.

Mind you, you've got all these endorsements and God knows what and you need to come in and hijack my little old thread for an album I made with the help of nobody.

That sir...is bad form.Start your own thread. They're free.

And only 9 tracks? Why so stingey?

I'd have 9 tracks recorded in a week .

Congrats, Gaz. I like the sense of humor in your tracks and your guitar riffs and vocal melodies are always catchy. Here's to a musically creative 2013. Cheers! Seriously, though, 31 songs!?! Don't wait so long next time!

well I'm really sorry, I liked your stuff and considered myself not 'above' you to 'hijack' your thread. I'll delete the post really if that's bothering you

and to be honest the 9 tracks go for one hour. I've got about 10 albums going over an hour each so I guess it's ok... To tell the truth I'm actually thinking that the less tracks you release at once, the more attention each track gets as opposed to too many tracks that end up scaring people away

Cheers, V

I will certainly take a listen to your work my man.

Soon as I finish this track I'm recording.

I don't like listening to other music when I'm working..in case I end up inadvertantly ripping it off

Just donated to your Volts and Decibels fund.

I found myself listening to your stuff off youtube way more than I expected (I'm sad kind that avoids "proper" songs really) - ones about Satan or intercepted fuzzbox are incredibly earwormy and "I'm in love with an egomaniac" has pretty mindblowing vocal melodies. Everything sounds, I dunno, nimble and effortless, if those are good words.

Thank you very much!

Nimble and effortless..they are excellent words, and pretty accurate to be honest.

I don't think about the harmonies until I press record..I just open my mouth and sing..and they just come out.

I didn't listen to the radio or CDs for like 10 years because of that very reason. I eventually gave up, everything sounds like something, somewhere eventually.

This is some really great poppy punk. This stuff would be great on the radio here in the States.

Real music.

Hi Gaz,

Oh man, this is some really great music!!!
Bought it right away and am downloading at this moment.
this is so pure and honest sounding (no native speaker here, so no idea, if these are the right words, but i think you get what I mean).
All fantastic, catchy melodies and straight ahead rock ´n roll.
Can´t wait for the next release. haha.

what did you use for drums?

Whilst I haven't commented on too many of your songs recently, I've been listening to them all and they are just great.
You've got such a unique yet familiar sound for me. I love that sound!

Dunno if you've ever heard of the Hard-Ons or The Celibate Rifles- two legendary Aussie bands, but you'd love em....

Anyway, just wanna say keep doing what you're doing... especially at the rate you're doing it! You have a pile of hits there (none better than Tea and Fags). So...

1. Keep that sick guitar tone- I'm surprised to hear its AT. I rarely use it these days but I may have to have another play.
2. Your guitar playing is exceptional. Has a nice loose feel to it. They just give a 'friendly' melodic feel to the songs.
3. Singing- so good it makes me sick. You've got great relaxed, CATCHY vocal
You using just readelay and no verb, correct?
4. You're not heading down the 'electronic sound' road are you? I see you're using more and more synths, which sound cool but imo, use MORE GUITARS.... but hey, you're the genius here so who am I to say!

And finally, I see how much time you spent with reaper and it shows. The mixes have gone up another level since the earlier tunes. I 'discovered' reaper as a guitar player about 1.5yrs ago and its a hell of a learning curve. You seem so much freer to be able to do what you what now you know your stuff
and that's just cool.
You're advice is always appreciated as I know you've worked out a good way to use reaper. Don't over-complicate things and just use the right tools

Anyway, once again, great work- will be buying this. Congrats on the huge release and can't wait to hear what's to come next

Thanks Op man!

I LOVE the Hard ons!!

TBh..I doubt I'll ever go full electronic..but I am certainly working towards knowing how to make it..I find it fascinating..and I've done my fair share of raving in my youth..so..I dare say there'll be the odd techno tune.

But I'm a punk rocker.I'm all about the guitar. But I love mono synths too!

I've always loved 70's Jazz Fusion ..so I guess that comes from there.

My progress in production has been fully charted and will continue to be on here..

The bottom line..PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE.

I'm nowhere near where I'm gonna be..but I love it..its a joy to learn and a double triple joy for people to like what I do.

You gotta want it.You gotta just focus.I don't go out.I don't maintain friendships..I don't eat fancy food even and I wear a coat indoors in winter..I do nothing but produce.

You've only one life.Do what you love. And give it a good shot.

That's exactly how I imagine that - this just doesn't sound like something that has been made in pains.

BTW, lyrics sheet would be nice addon for non-native speakers who have hard time to decipher the lyrics when delivery's getting hectic. I think I'm missing some gems, given overall top quality of lyrics-writing and storytelling in there. But I'm not insisting, as gathering the lyrics for all of those might be pain in the ass.

But I'm gonna retype them.Leave it with me.

I'll dropbox them in an little while..I have to nip out for a few mins

Review's awesome, if you'd have a physical CD, that would be a great quote for a yellow sticker on it:

Quote:
there is no studio here – just Gaz LeRock Super Genius, pumping out tunes faster than Tiamat can shit out mermaids. Fund that shit.

I am now the proud owner of my first LDC mic and it is absolutely FANTASTIC!

I'll still have to go easy on the food for a few weeks but its worth it.
I'm dying to record a few tunes!

So thank you from the bottom of my musical heart zeekat and everyone else who's supported me.

Means an awful lot to me.

Also,he was in my car giving me the mic cos it was pissing rain and we were chatting about recording and I played him my new tune Boring Bastards..his mind was blown. But better still,he asked,"What are you using ,Pro Tools?"...HAHAHA!!

I was tempted to rub it in,but I went easy on him.
