Default Simple Export of MIDI part?? how?

Ok got a single 8 bard MIDI part in Reaper, and need to email it to someone into another DAW.

Went to File > Export Current MIDI and got the following box attached .jpg (below)

But this seems to create a single 2kb file that won't even re-open in Reaper let alone another DAW?

What am I doing wrong? The project just has 1 track of midi about 16 bars, and I have put the selection around it and selected :

Time selection only, selectted track only

What am i doing wrong??

Doing what you did works ok here Buckman in Reaper 4.22 - I'd be inclined to save, reboot and try again...

Thanks, I think this is something to do with the renaming of the exported file, knocks out the '.mid' file extension.

I wrote it back in and it did seem to work ok.

Is this a bug?

The folders control panel has an option for showing or hiding file extensions. If it set to hide, a midi file with no visible .mid extension should still open, but if the folder control panel has that option set to show the extension and there is none, then obviously you have an orphaned file.

Maybe it was just temporary gremlins in your case Paul...
