Default "Reaper 5 has a crappy FX window" they said

In a certain un-nameable thread, someone really put down Reaper for having a boring FX chain window. It dawned on me that the solution was staring us all in the face and I finally get why everyone has been clamoring for this feature. I just thought it should be illustrated with an artists rendition so I asked a friend to do the work, and it got paid for in the form of advertisement, hope you don't mind. it's O.K. graphic work and gets my idea across better than my own sketch that is illegible because I can't draw a straight line lol!

Basically it's just a neat way to handle FX folders, children, etc. JUST USE THE SAME THING REAPER DOES WITH TRACKS, the technology exists already, no need to reinvent the wheel, makes FX routing STUPID EASY

Just a freebie from Paperless Solutions Inc. No you may not have my Paypal address!

wholy sh**!! this would be an amazing way of implementing FX-racks!!
Awesome Idea! really! I so hope that the devs consider such a thing. Some kind of a "major"-feature of early R5 or so

It looks interesting, but how would it improve functionality?

A few questions come to mind:

How would nested effects be interpreted? Are they different pin combinations? Does the output of one feed directly into the input of the next?

How would the effect chain be impacted by toggling the mute or solo buttons?

Does the slider impact the wet/dry ratio? Something else?

Perhaps the sliders and buttons are irrelevant and it's just an aesthetic touch?

Really, it's more of a 'SEED IDEA' not so much a finished product by any means.

It is up to the developers, who are geniuses, to decide if it fits their master plan.

even simple drag-and-child text style would be good. maybe with a wet dry slider/knob.

Code:
[x] ReaComp dry --------------[] wet
    [x] ReaEq dry -----------[]-- wet
[x] EtcPlug dry --------------[] wet
    [x] ReaWin dry -----------[]-- wet

this is what im looking for. just posted a fr about this but ill drop that n +1 this idea. i like how you have it in the picture. i would use this every session...

the sort of arraignment i have in the attached pic works but it would be slick all rolled up into a nice layout like u have. would be cool if you could set the fx chain to multiband and have a freq. crossover on each fx group. cool.

haha this is one of my favorite posts

i love the idea. make the theme for these fx "tracks" recognizably visually different than the main page tracks, though - I could see it possibly getting disorienting

The most important for me would be gain-staging,
that is a setting for eg. +6db before plugin and -6db after.

I guess that if you want to set the gain stage, you want also see a level strip (as for a track). I could do with the strip for starters as many (but not all) FXs come with a built-in input gain control.

I'm not seeing how this would improve workflow, but perhaps I'm missing something. Why not just route your returns to a group as many of us already do?
