Default Plugin suggestion for guitar room ambiance?

So I'm using Recabinet 3 which sounds amazing but it's completely dry. Anyone have suggestions for a good plugin to simulate room ambiance for guitar cabs? I'm currently using one called Ambiance but I'm just curious to see what everyone else is using.

Fire up an instance of Reaverb on the track and load in an impulse file from here http://www.voxengo.com/impulses/

One of the drum room ones will do if you just want ambience. Experiment with them all though as you may find a gem you love.

Default Hey Philait

Can a convo reverb be used in real time? I keep getting a latent signal when playing live...hmmmmm?

I looked at a video for Recabinet yesterday. They missed on control that I found was really interesting in Waves GTR3 - delay on each cabinet!

That really set the feel to a small room around the setup.

Izotope Trash Box Models have some interesting features where you freely move the two mikes to create an ambient feel to it.

Otherwise as said - reverb and delay can be applied to anything.

Check out valhallaroom. My setup is amp sim "a"/recabient/VR (on a buss)

The full version of reverberate by liquidsonics is latency free. I like mine but have to admit I dig for valhalla most of the time these days.

Tick ZL and SL before you load the impulse, sometimes starting and stopping transport is required but that reduces the plugin latency to 64spl for me.

what I do mostly:
arm two tracks to record simultaneously, place on each one the same guitar amp plugin (you name it), preferably without cabinet;
place in both channel a voxengo boogex (or whatever impulse based plugin), but with different impulses of the same cabinet (e.g., you may find "sm57-on axis" and "sm57-off axis" mic placement samples)...
here you go with two tracks to mix with a - hopefully -right ambience

edit: I usually spend some time to choose the right sound since I like to print it as is..

Personally I dumped recabinet 3 in favour of amplitube free, and spending a few quid on some cabinets. I turn off every part except the speakers and mic section so its just used as a cab sim not an amp sim.

It has a very nice (well I think) room mic set up, and the ability to mute the cab mic so you just get the ambience.

So you could run your preamp signal in to recabinet to get the sound you like, and a copy of the preamp signal into a similar cab in amplitube and just use the room ambience mics. Then layer the two together. it comes with some decent free cabs to start with and if you're just after ambience then one of them will probably do so you wont need to spend any cash on it.

Or just amplitube for it all but that's all a matter of taste and suggesting one sim is better than another is a pointless debate. But the ambience of it is very nice.
