Hi, long time since i've posted something let alone a song !!
I've recorded a David Bowie track with my Trio Acoustic band, all done with Reaper, fx,mastering you name it with Reaper we did it.
The song is called "When i missed you", it's one of the last songs Bowie recorded before he passed away, this is our acoustic version, we play this to open our gigs.
BTW i play drums and sing,
INSTRUMENTS ARE:
Pearl traveller drum kit played with nylon brushes
Ibanes Acoustic bass
Ovation Acoustic Guitar
The Bass and the Guitar have been wired directly to a Pyle-Pro passive PDC22 D.I. Box (2 seperate channels) , these then point to my Behringer MX9000 , i use the pre amps that feed the Terratec EWS88MT audio cards.
The Behringer MX9000 is a bit overkill but i like how the preamps sound and i also have complete monitoring headphone mix capabilities !
For the drums i've used a 4 mic configuration , for the overheads i used 1 couple of paired C-2's from Behringer, the kick and the Snare had their own AKG C-535EB.
Note: the HH is placed on the right just above the floor tom position, i have a remote charly, this postion forces me to play different as i don't have to cross my hands and thus helps me keep the acoustic vibe more edgy.
For the vocals i've used my ever present AKG P220
All effects and processingsounb is stock effects from reaper with some minor adjustments , we tried to keep the takes to a minmum in order to retain the live vibe.
Would love to know what you think , thanks for reading and taking your time. Leo.
