Subprojects: Don't ask to re-render every time another application gets focus

When working on subprojects Reaper will constantly keep asking me if I want to re-render every time another application (i.e. an external editor) gets focus, even if I haven't made a single change since the last time it asked me.

From a user experience perspective, the only thing worse than a modal dialog interrupting work, is one that won't take a hint, no matter how many times it's told.


When editing subprojects we don't need every single change reflected instantly. Rendering can be time consuming and no one wants to stare at the screen for 5 minutes after every minor edit.

If a PROX file is out of date, just append "Modified" to it's name so the user is aware and it shouldn't be an issue.

Agreed, although I don't seem to get the dialogue that much here but probably will end up with a situation where I do so the option would be good

It's a similar situation to when Reaper used to keep showing the popup when a MIDI device is in use by another program. Cockos thankfully fixed that, so I imagine they'll get around to it here too.

Maybe you need to have the option to offline items when Reaper loses focus? I use that option because I do a lot of editing with iZotope RX (brilliant if you do a lot of sampling).

Seriously though, unless Reaper is notifying me my house is on fire, or my non-existent wife is having a baby, I never, ever, want to see a modal dialog box.
