Default Reaper getting MIDI signal, but no sound

I followed all the steps in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QV9WkY4Zy_I as well as loaded a VSTi, but I hear nothing. Reaper shows the bouncing red line. The MIDI does not record either. The virtual keyboard does not make sound either. Controller is an Oxygen 49. Audio routing seems fine.

Any help?

Edit: Have sound now but MIDI is still not recording.

Edit 2: Now it is. I do not know what I did different.

See how good this forum is. One posting and 40 minutes later the problem is solved...and we didn't even have to say anything .

BTW if you have problems like that again it might be a good idea to say what VSTi you loaded. Also if you create your tracks the easy way using "Insert virtual instrument on new track" you'll find that the fiddly bits have already been set up for you.

For mysteries with MIDI recording, check out the checklist in the User Guide, section 3.40.

I better say he had already edited the original post to say he had figured it out for himself - wasnt being in the least snarky!

O.P. Did you figure out what you changed yet?
I would guess at you had the track armed for recording and forgot to press record instead of play, or the other way round. Easy mistake.
Have fun!
