Default Configurable Tap Precision

Please allow the ability to use the old, precision method for tapping tempo. I realize this was an inconvenience for some, but I would like the option to use either as needed. A context menu option, off by default, would suffice.

I can now break my silence as I am not the only one to feel this way.
I'd be happy with one decimal place even.

A quick search over at tape op or kvr shows that lots of people use more precise bpm, not just me.

Alternately, what would it take to enable tap plugins to update the host? I've toodled around the options and I can't seem to make a vsti plugin update Reaper (Sonic Assault Tap! 1.2 for the curious.)
It's supposed to be able to, but it says "host dependent" and I can't seem to get any of the time sync options to work.

I needed this precision last night in trying to sync bpm to a custom binaural tone I was generating. Whole number precision wasn't cutting it, but with the plugin I could get it (183.544) where I needed it.
